Lamborghini Gallardo Production Comes To An End
The era of Lamborghini Gallardo has come to an end. A decade after the reign of the most successful Italian fighting bull began the Sant'Agata Bolognese based supercar maker has stopped production of the Gallardo.
Production of the Gallardo first began in 2003, the year that also marked the company's 40th anniversary. Initially, production moved at snail's pace, as is common with automakers such as Lamborghini, at the rate of 250 units per year. Soon, however, increasing demand for the entry level Lambo forced the company to start building 2,000 units every year.

The extent of Gallardo's success is made evident by the fact that of the 30,000 odd cars sold by Lamborghini since 1963, 14,022 are Gallardos.
What you see in the image is the the very last Gallardo. LP 570-4 Spyder Performante to be specific, wearing Rosso Mars paintwork. The car is powered by a 5.2 liter V10 engine. The last Gallardo has been purchased by a private collector.
With the death of the Gallardo will emerge its successor, known as Cabrera. The Cabrera or whatever it might be called upon launch, will make its arrival in 2014 as Lamborghini completes its 50th anniversary and starts its 51st year.
