Jaguar Land Rover's expansion into South America is part of its larger plan to spread its wings in markets with plenty of demand for its vehicles. The other country where JLR is concentrating its efforts is China.

JLR is not the only company to decide on setting up manufacturing facilities in Brazil. In fact, the big three from Germany - BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Audi - have already stated their plans to build plants in the South American country.

The driving force behind the sudden increase in activity in Brazil is credited to the government's decision to raise taxes on imported vehicles, just like in India. At the same time automakers will also be awarded with incentives in the form of relaxed taxation if they produce vehicle locally.
