German Automobile Club ADAC To Acquire Nurburgring?

By Ganesh

Fresh update has emerged concerning passing of ownership of Germany's famous circuit Nurburgring. This time the name that has surfaced is that of ADAC, which is Europe's largest and the world's second largest automobile club.

According to Germany's Auto Motor und Sport, ADAC has submitted a non binding offer for the purchase of Nurburgring from the Rhineland state government. No further details about the offer being made has emerged yet except that ADAC is reportedly interested in acquiring just the circuit, Nordschleife and the Grand Prix circuit included and not the other facilities within the premises such as the "Ring Racer" roller coaster, the shopping mall or the museum.

It has been earlier reported that F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone was interested in buying the famed circuit. Later reports claimed one of Germany's auto giants might acquire The Ring. The latest update about ADAC showing interest in the purchase of the circuit seems the most logical and healthy proposition.

Throughout the world several circuits are owned and run by private automobile clubs including UK's Silverstone circuit and The Circuit des 24 Heures from France. While the former is owned by the British Racing Drivers' Club, the latter is run by the Automobile Club de l'Ouest.
