Drayson Racing Electric Vehicle Sets Four New Records
Drayson Racing Technologies, operated by Lord Drayson of UK, if you may remember, set a land speed record back in June 2013 for electric cars weighting below 1000 kg. The speed set by Lord Drayson them was 328.6 km/h. Less than four months later that record has been broken, by Drayson Racing once again.
Drayson Racing, earlier this month, improved upon its earlier record top speed by reaching 330.139 km/h. The new record was set at Elvington Airfield in Yorkshire. The record speed was noted by taking the average of two runs done within an hour. More on the record in the gallery below.

In addition to the new top speed record Drayson Racing managed to set three other records. The first of these was that of record average speed over one kilometer, at 333.271 km/h.

The third record was for the fastest quarter mile for an electric vehicle, at 9.742 seconds and 92.383 mph.

The fourth and last record was for the British land speed record for any car driven by their wheel over one mile from a flying start, at 352 km/h.

"We are continuing the testing and development programme of our electric drivetrain technology and we are delighted with the results achieved today. Drayson Racing is a laboratory for novel EV technology such as the high power Qualcomm Halo wireless charging system, testing it to the most extreme level and that's why we do this. The engineering challenge of accelerating a 995kg electric car to these speeds and then stopping in time on such a short runway is pretty intense, but it's a great proving ground for our technology. It's also an exciting way of demonstrating what's possible with a state of the art electric vehicle," said Lord Drayson, CEO of Drayson Racing Technologies.
