2013 Nissan Micra: What Is New

Nissan has launched the all new fourth generation Micra in India for a starting price of INR 4.79 lakhs. The new Micra seemingly takes care of all the shortcomings of the outgoing Micra, which was mostly concerned with the hatchback's dull looks. 2013 Nissan Micra offers a more appealing design, thanks to the incorporation of Nissan's latest design theme, which includes a redesigned front fascia and an improved interior, with the use of premium materials.

The engines remain the same. But a new xTronic CVT transmission, the first in a hatchback, is now on offer with the petrol variant. From the initial look at the upgrades the new Micra comes out as a true premium hatchback, that justifies the price tag. Following is a detailed description of all that is new in the 2013 Micra.

The New Face

The first thing that catches the eye is the bold new face. The Nissan logo is housed on the new honeycomb grille, between the ‘V' shaped chrome insert, a grille design that is common to all new Nissan models globally.

The lower air dam is now broader as well and also gets a chrome stripe. The new headlights' ‘boomerang' shape follows the angular, sculpted bonnet design. The fog lamp housing also gets a more bolder, bulky design, with chrome surround.

The New Micra

The hatch has grown by by 45 mm to 3825 mm.

Rear End

Another premium feature are the LED tail lamps and LED stop lamps, both a first in the segment.

Apart from the restyled tail lamps, the rear bumper also sports a new design.

A closer look at the new rear bumper. Also seen are the XV trim and Pure Drive badge. The Pure Drive badge is there to tell us that the Micra exceeds the global standards of being environmently friendly.

Rear View Camera

Another feature not typically found in cars from this segment is the rear view camera, that feeds video directly to the rear view mirror. Good for spotting hidden objects behind the car.

Interior

The plush new interior is covered in premium looking upholstery, a center console with Piano Black Finish, chrome inserts, redesigned air vents, with silver finish and more. Nissan also says, the new Micra cabin is a lot quieter.

Safety

All Micra trims get SRS airbags for the driver, while passenger side air bags are on offer for higher trims. The higher end trims get the full set of safety package that consists of Anti-lock Braking system (ABS), Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist (BA).
