Maruti May Increase Ertiga Price By July

If you are so excited with the introductory prices of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, possibilities are that the carmaker may increase the price of the MPV by as early as July. The signs of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga price hike have come from Maruti Suzuki marketing head Mayank Pareek.

Pareek was quoted as saying: “Yes, we are certainly looking at increasing the price and we will be reviewing it in a few months.” The Ertiga has received huge booking by as much as 32,000 in just a month's time from its launch and it seems that it won't take too long for the company to hike the price of the MPV. Introductory pricing has been a strategy of many companies in the recent times with Mahindra Xylo the best example of it. Carmakers launch new cars with low prices and later increase prices gauging the existing demand. (Read: Are Maruti Suzuki Ertiga Prices Only Introductory?)

Meanwhile, the Ertiga has gained bookings by as much as the best selling Swift Dzire sedan. It is the diesel variant of the Ertiga that is receiving the most number of bookings with the variant having a waiting period of almost six months.

It is expected that the price hike of the MPV could be between Rs 10-20k. Currently, the Ertiga is available in six variants with the petrol and diesel variant starting at an attractive Rs 5.9 and 7.3 lakhs respectively. Recently the company had increased the price of the Swift Dzire by up to Rs 12,000.
