Are Maruti Suzuki Ertiga Prices Only Introductory?
The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga's starting price of Rs.5.89 lakhs for the Vxi makes it a very attractive car for a large family. We can even consider buyers of the Swift DZire will also opt for the Ertiga considering its space and practicality. The new Ertiga is priced about Rs.45,000 more than the Swift DZire. While many people have opted to buy the DZire instead of the Swift just for the extra cabin and luggage space, there is little doubt about the fact that DZire buyers will look at the Ertiga as a better option.
This means the demand for the Ertiga will definitely increase to greater numbers. Maruti is expecting to sell about 5,000 units of the Ertiga per month. This is a number which is easily achievable considering the current demand for MPVs.Maruti Suzuki India has stated that although the price of the Ertiga and that of the Swift DZire is in close proximity, both the cars cater to different kind of buyers.
But if Maruti Suzuki notices DZire customers moving towards the Ertiga, the carmaker might have to increase the new MPV's price. The Ertiga's price could also be just an introductory offer with a revised price coming in a few months.
Carmakers have launched new cars with low prices and have then increased prices gauging the existing demand. The case of the Mahindra XUV 500 is a classic example of a carmaker increasing prices after claiming the initial price was just an introductory price.
If the Ertiga price is also introductory, we can expect a slight increase in prices in a few months. If Maruti Suzuki sticks to the current prices then we should definitely congratulate it for bringing out a car that is spacious, stylish, practical and affordable too.
