When the new Swift was launched way back in August 2012, it had some minute changes to the engine specs to make it lighter and more fuel efficient. The same thing has been repeated in the new Swift DZire too. Maruti Suzuki has not only reduced the size of the car but has also kept the car's weight low. In fact the Swift DZire weights as much as the Swift despite the increase in size.

This reduced weight will definitely make the new Swift DZire offer improved levels of performance when compared to the current model. It will be available with both petrol and diesel engines. The petrol engine is a 1.2-litre pot that can generate 87bhp at 6000rpm and 114 Nm of torque. The 1.3-litre diesel engine is slightly less powerful and can churn out 75bhp and a respectable 190Nm of torque at 2000rpm.

Maruti Suzuki has claimed a fuel economy of 19.6kmpl for the petrol and 23.4kmpl for the diesel. The carmaker has made the DZire more interesting y adding a long list of features which will include dual tone dash, integrated stereo on higher models and climate control air conditioning. The safety aspect has been taken care by adding front dual SRS airbags, ELR seat belts, ABS, Brake Assist, EBD and an Engine Drag Control system.
