KTM 250 Adventure Being Developed: India Launch In 2020
KTM is apparently working on a 250cc adventure motorcycle. The motorcycle will probably be called the KTM 250 Adventure and will be inspired by the upcoming KTM 390 Adventure. KTM seems to be working on this unique strategy to dominate the low-capacity adventure tourer segment.

The KTM 390 Adventure is without doubt, the most-awaited motorcycle this year. Speculations of its launch have been around since 2018 and latest reports suggest that the adventure tourer will be launched before the end of 2019.
Now though, yet another report has emerged that gives KTM fans more reason to rejoice. According to Autocar, KTM is also working on a 250cc version of the motorcycle. With the lower capacity variant, the Austrian motorcycle manufacturer can target more buyers as it will cost lesser than the 390.

This strategy has already been used by KTM India in the Duke series. KTM India retails the 125 Duke, 200 Duke, 250 Duke and 390 Duke models. Hundreds of enthusiasts are also eagerly waiting for the KTM 790 Duke to be launched.
This strategy has worked out rather well for KTM as it has a Duke to match everyone's needs. The 390 Duke continues to clock consistent sales figures while the 125 Duke is selling more than the competition.

The RC series too soon followed with KTM selling the RC 125, RC 200 & RC 390. Hence, KTM might be trying to replicate this strategy with the Adventure series as well. The KTM 390 Adventure is expected to be showcased at the EICMA motorcycle show set to take place at Italy in November. It will be launched soon after.
Now, with this new report, we could possibly see the 250 Adventure too at EICMA. However, this is just speculation at the moment. The KTM 250 Adventure will be powered by the same engine as the 250 Duke.

In the 250 Duke, the liquid-cooled, 248.8cc, single-cylinder engine puts out a maximum power output of 30bhp and a peak torque output of 24Nm. A six-speed gearbox drives the rear wheel. In the 250 Adventure though, we will see a change in the gearing.
When compared to the 390 Adventure, the 250 will have lesser features. For instance, we can expect the LED headlamp to be replaced by a halogen unit. The TFT instrumentation display will be replaced by the conventional display seen on all KTM bikes up to 250cc.

In all probability, the 250 will come with alloy wheels shod with locally-made tyres while the 390 has optional spoked wheels and continental dual-sport tyres.
Thoughts On KTM 250 Adventure Being Developed For The Indian Market
Buyers in the Indian two-wheeler market are spoilt for choice. Even in the adventure-tourer segment, buyers can choose between several models and varying engine capacities.

The KTM 390 Adventure will compete with the likes of the Royal Enfield Himalayan and the BMW G 310 GS. However, if the 250 Adventure is launched, it will have no real competition. Hence, KTM can possibly dominate the segment in the days to come.
