Warwick Acoustics Confirms Mira Technology Park As New Sustainable Manufacturing Site For Revolutionary Automotive Audio Products
Warwickshire, UK, 1st May 2024: Warwick Acoustics has announced the expansion of its manufacturing operations to the MIRA Technology Park (MTP), a leading automotive research and development hub in Europe. This move comes on the heels of a successful £7m funding round, marking a significant step forward in the company's growth and its commitment to sustainable manufacturing practices. The new facility is set to be powered entirely by renewable electricity, aligning with Warwick Acoustics' dedication to environmental responsibility.
The company, known for its innovative Electrostatic Audio Panels, is gearing up for a substantial increase in production capacity. These panels are designed to be 90% lighter and consume 90% less energy than traditional automotive speakers, representing a significant advancement in the sector. The technology not only promises enhanced sustainability through its use of upcycled materials and absence of rare earth elements but also boasts complete recyclability.
Mike Grant, CEO of Warwick Acoustics, expressed pride in the company's roots at MTP since 2018 and its role in fostering product development and initial manufacturing phases. "Manufacturing our product where we are based is important to us," Grant stated, highlighting the strategic advantage of UK production in achieving global competitiveness and challenging industry norms within the $8bn global market.
The selection of MTP is further justified by the construction of a 7MW solar farm by the site owners, poised to generate enough electricity to power around 2300 houses. This initiative underscores the site's commitment to sustainability and complements Warwick Acoustics' eco-friendly manufacturing ethos.
Warwick Acoustics' growth is supported by Midlands-based venture capital firm Mercia Asset Management plc and the Midlands Engine initiative. The region's rich automotive talent pool plays a crucial role in the company's development strategy, enabling it to attract highly skilled professionals.
The British-designed electrostatic audio technology from Warwick Acoustics represents a departure from traditional speaker systems, which have seen little innovation over the past century. With eight granted patent families and two patents pending, the company is poised to revolutionize in-car audio experiences.
