Mazda Sees Mixed Results In April 2024 With Sales Decline And Yearly Growth
In a recent update from Irvine, California, Mazda North American Operations (MNAO) disclosed its sales figures for April 2024, revealing a slight dip in vehicle sales compared to the same month in the previous year. The company reported selling 31,125 vehicles, marking a 3.8 percent decrease from April 2023. Despite this monthly decline, the year-to-date figures paint a brighter picture with a total of 131,228 vehicles sold, indicating an 8.7 percent increase over the same period last year.
One of the standout details from the April sales report is the record-breaking performance of several Mazda models. The CX-30, CX-50, and CX-90 all achieved their best-ever April sales, with 7,649, 5,225, and 3,694 vehicles sold respectively. Additionally, Mazda's Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) program experienced its second-best April in history with sales reaching 6,294 vehicles, a significant 28 percent increase compared to April 2023.

On an international scale, Mazda's operations in Canada and Mexico also reported positive growth. Mazda Canada Inc. (MCI) saw a 33.5 percent increase in April sales with 5,952 vehicles sold. Meanwhile, Mazda Motor de Mexico (MMdM) witnessed a remarkable 90 percent surge in sales with 7,160 vehicles sold in April. These figures contribute to a robust start to the year for Mazda across North America.
The detailed breakdown of sales by model further highlights the diverse appeal of Mazda's lineup. The Mazda3 sedan experienced a notable increase of 33.3 percent in sales compared to April last year, while the hatchback version saw a decrease. The MX-5 Miata and its variants also showed varied performance with some models experiencing declines in sales.
Despite challenges in certain segments, such as the discontinuation of the CX-9 and MX-30 models which recorded no sales this period, Mazda's overall portfolio continues to attract buyers. The introduction of new models like the CX-90 has evidently captured consumer interest, as evidenced by its impressive sales figures.
Mazda's commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction remains evident through its operational strategies and product offerings. With a strong dealer network across the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Colombia consisting of approximately 795 dealerships, Mazda aims to continue its trajectory of growth and success in the competitive automotive market.
The company's foundation in Hiroshima, Japan underscores its dedication to sophisticated craftsmanship and innovation with the goal of enriching lives through mobility. As Mazda continues to navigate through fluctuating market conditions, its focus on human-centric design and uplifting driving experiences positions it well for future advancements.
