Kia's EV9 And Sportage Clinch Prestigious Titles At AM Awards 2024
Kia UK has achieved significant recognition at the prestigious AM Awards 2024, securing two major accolades for its vehicles, the EV9 and Sportage. The ceremony, which took place at Park Plaza Westminster Bridge in London on Thursday, 2 May, saw the fully electric EV9 being named 'EV of the Year’ and the Sportage clinching the 'Used Car of the Year’ title for a consecutive second year.
The Kia EV9 emerged as the top electric car at the awards, celebrated for its spaciousness, comfort, and high-quality equipment. Tim Rose, Editor of AM, highlighted the vehicle's appeal despite its premium price point, stating it as a significant addition to Kia's UK portfolio.
The EV9 stands out as a large electric SUV perfectly suited for families looking to reduce their carbon footprint without sacrificing space or comfort. This model has also been recognized as both 'World Car of the Year’ and 'UK Car of the Year’, marking it as Kia’s flagship model. It offers three trim grades and options for six- or seven-seat configurations.
Built on the Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), it boasts excellent practicality, ride quality, and performance. With a 99.8kWh battery and 800V charging capability, it promises up to 349 miles of range on a single charge and can add 154 miles of range in just 15 minutes when using the fastest charging points.
The Sportage has once again been voted by dealers as the market's leading used car, attributed to its practicality, comfort, standard equipment, and reliable warranty. This model consistently appears in the UK’s top ten best-selling cars list and represents the ideal family SUV with its practicality and efficient powertrains.
The latest generation includes electrified engine options that enhance its economy further. Following its 'New Car of the Year’ win in 2022 at the AM Awards, it has successfully defended its title as 'Used Car of the Year’ in 2023.
