Kia America Hits New Milestone With Record Electric Vehicle Sales In April
In a significant stride towards sustainable mobility, Kia America has announced a record-breaking performance for its electric vehicle (EV) sales in April 2024, marking a 61-percent increase over its previous record set in April 2022. The all-new EV9 led this surge with its highest sales to date, contributing to Kia's overall sales of 65,754 units in the month. Notably, SUVs dominated the sales mix, accounting for 81-percent of Kia's total U.S. sales - the highest monthly mix in the company's history.
April also saw best-ever sales figures for three of Kia's utility vehicles: the Carnival, Telluride, and Sportage, with increases of 18-percent, 5-percent, and 2-percent respectively. Additionally, the all-electric EV6 saw a 65-percent year-over-year growth, while the new Sorento and ICE Forte also experienced significant gains.

Eric Watson, vice president of sales operations at Kia America, highlighted the continued acceleration in sales momentum for Kia's EV and electrified models. He attributed this success to the introduction of new models such as the Sorento in showrooms and anticipated refreshes for the Carnival and K5 models set to arrive later in the summer.
Further cementing its position as a leader in vehicle excellence, Kia received three awards from Cars.com in their "2024 Best Value New Cars" rankings. The Forte sedan and Soul crossover led the Compact Car category, while the EV6 was honored in the Electric Vehicle category. The EV9 was also recognized by AutoTrader as one of the "Best New Cars of 2024," marking the fourth consecutive year a Kia vehicle has been included on this prestigious list.
In addition to these accolades, Kia was honored at the 2024 Car Design Award ceremony for its 'Brand Design Language', a testament to its innovative 'Opposites United' design philosophy introduced in 2021. This philosophy aims to create fresh perspectives through the interplay of tension, harmony, and dynamism.
