Volkswagen Tayron R-Line Pre-Bookings Open In India, Flagship SUV Launching Soon
Volkswagen has opened pre-bookings for its flagship SUV, the Tayron R-Line, in India. The model will be offered as a CKD (Completely Knocked Down) unit and will be locally assembled at Volkswagen's plant in India. The SUV is scheduled to launch in February 2026.
The German automaker currently sells models such as the Taigun, Virtus, Tiguan R-Line, and Golf GTI in India. With the addition of the Tayron R-Line, Volkswagen will expand its premium portfolio, and the SUV will become the brand's top-of-the-line locally assembled offering in the country.
Volkswagen Starts Prebookings
Pre-bookings for the Tayron R-Line have now commenced ahead of its official launch. Interested customers can book the SUV by paying a booking amount of ₹51,000 at authorised Volkswagen dealerships or through the brand's official website.
Positioned in the premium SUV segment, the Tayron R-Line offers strong performance, confident handling, and advanced technology. Being locally assembled, it aims for a balance between premium appeal and competitive pricing.
Powering the Tayron R-Line is a 2.0-litre petrol engine producing 204 PS of power and 320 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission and Volkswagen's 4MOTION all-wheel-drive system. The SUV can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.3 seconds and can reach a top speed of 224 km/h.
On the technology front, the Tayron R-Line is expected to feature a 15-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Varenna leatherette seats, 30-colour ambient lighting, a panoramic sunroof, multiple driving modes, powered front seats with ventilation, massage and memory functions, an augmented reality head-up display, and multi-zone climate control.
Safety equipment includes Level 2 ADAS, Park Assist Plus, an exit warning system, airbags, an illuminated Volkswagen logo, and full LED lighting. Pricing will be revealed at the time of launch. The Volkswagen Tayron R-Line will compete against rivals such as the Toyota Fortuner, Skoda Kodiaq, MG Gloster, and Jeep Meridian. The SUV is expected to be priced in the range of ₹50-55 lakh (ex-showroom).
