Volkswagen Tayron Life Vs Tayron R-Line: Here's What You Gain And Lose
Volkswagen has launched the Tayron SUV in India, which is the standard version of the Tayron R-Line. This 5-seater SUV is priced at Rs 41.99 lakh (ex-showroom), making it Rs 5 lakh more affordable than the 7-seater Tayron R-Line, which costs Rs 46.99 lakh (ex-showroom).
Volkswagen Tayron Life Vs Tayron R-Line Key Differences
Despite sharing the same platform, the Tayron Life and the Tayron R-Line have several differences in terms of features on offer. Here, let us check out the top five differences between the two models in detail.
5-Seater vs 7-Seater

The newly launched Tayron Life is a 5-seater SUV, unlike the Tayron R-Line, which can accommodate up to seven passengers. Despite having five seats, the Tayron Life is far more practical, offering up to 885 litres of boot space compared to the 345-litre boot space in the Tayron R-Line.
New Design Elements
The Volkswagen Tayron Life gets a clean and luxurious appearance compared to the aggressive and sporty nature of the R-Line. It gets an L-shaped grille, curved bumpers, black roof rails, and newly designed 18-inch alloy wheels.
The Tayron R-Line is bolder and has a more commanding presence compared to the Life trim. It also gets the more premium IQ.Light HD Matrix LED headlamps compared to the standard projector headlamps on the Life trim.
Interior & Cabin

It gets dual-tone black and grey cabin compared to the dark and sporty cabin of the Tayron R-line. The Life trim gets 10-colour ambient lighting compared to the 30 colour ambient lighting of the Tayron R-line.
The Tayron Life variant has a beige roof lining, a leather-wrapped, heated, multi-function steering wheel with shift paddles, a front centre armrest with decorative stitching, and two-stage height adjustment for the luggage compartment.
Other Key Differences

Apart from the two-row seating layout and additional boot space, there are several other differences. The Tayron Life gets a 12.9-inch infotainment system instead of the 15-inch unit in the Tayron R-Line. It also gets an 8-speaker sound system compared to the 11-speaker, 700W Harman Kardon audio system offered in the R-Line.
Additionally, the R-Line gets 30-colour ambient lighting compared to the 10-colour setup in the Life trim. The Tayron Life variant also misses out on the exclusive 360-degree camera and head-up display (HUD) available in the Tayron R-Line.
What Hasn't Changed?
Both models are powered by the same 2.0L TSI petrol engine that produces 204 bhp of power and 320 Nm of torque, paired with a 7-speed DSG gearbox and Volkswagen's 4Motion all-wheel-drive system.
Convenience features such as 12-way power-adjustable front seats with heating, ventilation, and massage functions are also carried forward. Both SUVs also offer Level 2 ADAS, nine airbags, electronic differential locks, and a panoramic sunroof.
