Volkswagen Tayron Life Launched At Rs 41.99 Lakh: Undercuts R-Line By Rs 5 Lakh
German carmaker Volkswagen has launched the Tayron Life in India at Rs 41.99 lakh (ex-showroom), positioning it Rs 5 lakh below the range-topping Tayron R-Line variant. The new Volkswagen Tayron Life trim drops the sporty cosmetic package and the third row of seats, but keeps most of the features of its sportier sibling.
The new VW Tayron Life mirrors Skoda's strategy with the three-row Kodiaq, which is offered in a cheaper five-seat Lounge trim alongside the seven-seat range topper. The new Volkswagen Tayron Life sees the German marque follow that path to help widen the Tayron's appeal beyond the flagship R-Line.

Like the R-Line, the Tayron Life is locally assembled at Volkswagen's Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar facility in Maharashtra. The new VW Tayron Life goes up against the Skoda Kodiaq and Jeep Meridian in the premium SUV segment.
| Variant | Price (ex-showroom) | Seating |
|---|---|---|
| Tayron Life | Rs 41.99 lakh | 5 |
| Tayron R-Line | Rs 46.99 lakh | 7 |
Volkswagen Tayron Life Launched: Engine and Gearbox
Under the bonnet, the new VW Tayron Life uses the same 2.0-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine as the R-Line. This Tayron's engine produces 204hp and 320Nm, which goes to all four wheels thanks to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Both trims share identical dimensions, measuring 4,792mm in length on a 2,789mm wheelbase, since they sit on the same MQB EVO platform.
Volkswagen Tayron Life Launched: - Design & Features
Visually, the VW Tayron Life trades the R-Line's sporty detailing for a more understated look. The front grille, wheel arch cladding and rear bumper trim skip the gloss-black finish seen on the flagship variant.
The new Volkswagen Tayron Life rides on 18-inch alloy wheels, an inch smaller than the R-Line's units, with a design that looks similar to the ones found on the Volkswagen Golf GTI.
At the rear, changes to the Tayron for the Life variant are limited to a simpler bumper, while the tail-lights, connecting light bar, illuminated VW logo and roof spoiler carry over unchanged.
Step inside and the differences in the cabin between the Life and R-Line are minimal beyond the missing third row and R badges. The Tayron Life also retains the 15-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and panoramic sunroof, along with three-zone automatic climate control and the powered, ventilated front seats.
Safety equipment on the Tayron Life has been carried over largely unchanged as well. The Tayron Life gets a 360-degree camera and a Level 2 ADAS suite, backed by nine airbags as standard.
