Volkswagen Taigun Vs Skoda Kushaq Facelift - 5 Big Differences You Must Know
Volkswagen has launched the Taigun facelift in India, featuring key updates and design changes. This compact SUV is based on the MQB-A0-IN platform, which is already shared with the Skoda Kushaq facelift. Both cars are largely similar, with only minor differences and changes.

These two compact SUVs are powered by the same 1.0L TSI and 1.5L TSI engines. The transmission options are also shared, as both get a 6-speed manual, an 8-speed torque converter automatic, and a 7-speed DSG for the higher-capacity engine. So, here we are going to look at the 5 key differences between these two vehicles.
Exterior Design
The biggest differences are in the exterior design, where the Skoda Kushaq Facelift gets a large grille with connected DRLs, newly designed LED headlamps, a large bumper with integrated fog lamps, aluminium cladding, and a new connected rear tail light with sequential indicators and an illuminated Skoda logo. All these exterior changes give it a modern, solid, and rugged look, similar to the Kodiaq SUV.
The Volkswagen Taigun Facelift gets a cleaner and sleeker design with a small front black grille, connected LED DRLs with an illuminated logo, new all-weather headlamps with integrated fog lamps and an auto-adjust function, along with a connected rear tail lamp with sequential indicators and an illuminated logo. It is more inspired by the Tiguan SUV, offering a premium and elegant design compared to the Kushaq facelift.
Standard Features
The Skoda Kushaq facelift packs features such as a single-pane sunroof, 16-inch alloy wheels, LED headlamps, sequential indicators, automatic climate control, rear AC vents, and a rear wiper with defogger.
The Volkswagen Taigun facelift also offers similar features but misses out on the single-pane sunroof in lower base variant, as it is only available from the Highline Plus variant. However, it gets connected LED DRLs right from the base variant, which is missing in the Kushaq facelift.
Automatic Transmission In Base Variant
The Skoda Kushaq facelift gets the new 8-speed torque converter automatic transmission right from the base variant. However, the Taigun facelift offers this automatic gearbox only from the Highline trim, which could cost several lakhs more. This new torque converter option is claimed to be more efficient in cities and provides smoother shifts compared to the outgoing 6-speed automatic.
Rear Seat Massage
The Volkswagen Taigun facelift misses out on the rear seat massage function, which is available in the Skoda Kushaq facelift. The massage seats at the rear were first introduced by Skoda, and many expected them to be offered in the Taigun facelift as well. However, Volkswagen has chosen not to include this feature, making the Skoda Kushaq facelift a better choice for comfort-oriented buyers.
Boot Space
The Skoda Kushaq facelift offers a generous boot space of 491 litres, compared to 385 litres in the Taigun facelift. With the 60:40 split seat configuration, the boot space can be expanded up to 1405 litres. However, a similar expanded capacity can also be achieved in the Taigun facelift using the split-seat feature. Still, in standard configuration, the Kushaq facelift offers significantly more boot space than the Taigun facelift.

However, considering the Indian market and evolving consumer expectations, the Kushaq facelift offers a few additional features over the Taigun right from the base variant.
