Volkswagen has announced the commencement of production for the upcoming Taigun facelift at its Pune facility. The updated model is scheduled to launch on April 9, 2026, and is expected to bring several new features over the outgoing Taigun.
Volkswagen Taigun Facelift Production Started
The German carmaker has begun manufacturing the new Taigun facelift at its Pune plant. The SUV continues to be fully manufactured in India while retaining its core German engineering. The updated model is expected to be closely related to the Skoda Kushaq facelift, which has already been introduced in the domestic market.

New Exterior
Official images of the Taigun facelift have been revealed on Volkswagen's social media platforms, showcasing a refreshed exterior design. The front fascia features eye-shaped LED headlamps with connected DRLs and an illuminated VW logo, giving it a more modern and premium look.
The grille has been redesigned to appear sleeker, complemented by a larger T-shaped air dam integrated into the bumper. Vertical slats enhance airflow to the engine bay while maintaining aerodynamic efficiency.

Key Highlights
Volkswagen is also expected to introduce a sportier GT variant featuring a blacked-out grille, alloy wheels with red brake calipers, and all-wheel disc brakes. Additional exterior updates may include connected LED tail lamps with an illuminated logo, sequential turn indicators, rear wiper with defogger, a single-pane sunroof, and alloy wheels as standard features.
The interior is also set to receive notable upgrades, with a more premium cabin featuring new colour themes and leatherette upholstery. The GT variants will continue with an all-black interior layout to enhance the sporty appeal.
Feature upgrades are likely to include a new 10.25-inch infotainment system with Google integration, a fully digital instrument cluster, rear massage seats, a panoramic sunroof, paddle shifters, and a new 8-speed torque converter automatic transmission for the 1.0L engine.

Powertrain and Gearbox
Under the hood, the Taigun facelift will continue with the existing engine options. The 1.0L TSI engine produces 115 PS and 178 Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed manual and an 8-speed automatic transmission. The more powerful 1.5L TSI engine delivers 150 PS and 250 Nm of torque, mated to a 7-speed DSG gearbox.
Price expectations
The Volkswagen Taigun facelift is expected to be priced from around ₹11 lakh (ex-showroom). It will compete with rivals such as the Skoda Kushaq facelift, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Tata Sierra, and the Renault Duster.
