2026 Volkswagen Taigun Facelift Teased Ahead of April 9 Launch
Volkswagen has teased the upcoming Taigun facelift, which is set for launch on 09/04/2026. This will be the vehicle's first proper facelift since 2021, despite the introduction of several special editions in the compact SUV segment.
2026 Volkswagen Taigun Facelift Teased
The Taigun is one of the more popular models in the mid-size SUV category. It is built on the India-specific MQB A0 IN platform, a localized version of the global MQB (Modular Transverse Toolkit) architecture.
The German brand sources around 95% of the vehicle's materials and components from local suppliers, helping to reduce both production and service costs. This platform is also well-regarded for safety, as the Taigun secured a full 5-star rating in Global NCAP crash tests.

Taigun Facelift Expectaions
The upcoming model is expected to feature several updates, including revised front and rear sections with an illuminated VW logo and connected LED DRLs. The lighting setup is also likely to be refined, offering a more distinctive signature and improved projection.
Features are expected to closely mirror its Skoda sibling, the Kushaq, which was recently facelifted in India. This means it could introduce additions such as a panoramic sunroof, rear seat massage function, four-wheel disc brakes on the top variant, an infotainment system and digital cluster powered by Google, a refreshed cabin, and the option of an 8-speed torque converter automatic transmission for the smaller engine.

The engine options are expected to remain unchanged, featuring the 1.0 TSI (115 PS / 178 Nm) and 1.5 TSI (150 PS / 250 Nm) petrol engines. These will continue to be paired with a 6-speed manual, an 8-speed torque converter automatic, and a 7-speed DSG for the higher-spec engine. The automatic variants are also likely to come equipped with paddle shifters.
However, it would come as a major surprise if the brand introduces features like a 360-degree camera and ADAS safety suite with this facelift. These additions were widely expected in the Kushaq facelift as well, but were not offered.
In terms of pricing, the Volkswagen Taigun facelift could be positioned between ₹11 lakh and ₹11.50 lakh (ex-showroom). It will compete with rivals such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Skoda Kushaq facelift, Tata Sierra, and the Renault Duster.
