Volkswagen ID. Cross EV Key Features Revealed- Will It Launch In India?

Volkswagen has revealed key features of the upcoming ID. Cross electric car ahead of its global debut. The concept model is expected to enter production soon, with a launch timeline set between September and November this year.

Volkswagen will use its in-house developed MEB+ platform, and the model will feature a front-wheel-drive (FWD) layout. VW ID. Cross will be offered with two battery pack options: a 37 kWh unit and a larger 52 kWh unit. The smaller battery is expected to deliver a range of up to 316 km, while the larger pack could offer up to 436 km on a single charge.

Power outputs are expected to be available in three configurations: 85 kW, 99 kW, and 155 kW, making it well-suited for everyday driving needs. This 5-seater electric vehicle is expected to feature a large infotainment display, a high-quality cabin, advanced driver assistance systems, and modern technology, all packaged in a compact form factor.

In terms of dimensions, the ID. Cross is expected to measure around 4.1 metres in length, 1.7 metres in width, and 1.5 metres in height, with a wheelbase of approximately 2.6 metres. It is likely to offer a ground clearance of 140 mm, along with a 475-litre boot space and an additional 22-litre frunk.

The model is also expected to feature a wide range of modern technology and convenience features, including a 10.25-inch digital driver display, a 12.9-inch infotainment system, dual-zone climate control, adaptive cruise control, rear-view camera, keyless entry, a Harman Kardon audio system, 12-way electrically adjustable front seats with massage, ventilation, and memory functions, wireless phone charging, and a panoramic sunroof.

Design Features

On the exterior, the ID. Cross will feature LED headlamps with DRLs, black bumpers with silver accents, a closed-off grille, blacked-out ORVMs, newly designed alloy wheels, LED tail lamps, and an illuminated Volkswagen logo at both the front and rear. The overall design language draws inspiration from the Volkswagen T-Cross.

Price Expectations

The Volkswagen ID. Cross is expected to be priced at around €28,000, which translates to approximately ₹29.94 lakh. Since it's an entry-level EV, the model could initially be introduced in India as a fully imported unit (CBU). There is also a possibility of local assembly (CKD) at a later stage to make it more affordable for the Indian consumers.
