Volkswagen Unveils New ID. Cross Electric SUV With Up To 427 KM Range
Volkswagen has unveiled the ID. Cross, a compact electric SUV developed on the updated MEB+ platform. This model could represent the future of Volkswagen's EV lineup, aimed at making electric mobility more accessible.

German car manufacturer Volkswagen has revealed the new ID. Cross compact electric SUV. The SUV will be limited to the European market and is built on the updated MEB+ platform. This same electric architecture is shared with several of its models, sister brands and partners.
Dimensions and Space

It measures 4,153 mm in length, 1,581 mm in height, and 1,794 mm in width, with a wheelbase of up to 2,601 mm, offering a spacious cabin. Compared to its ICE counterpart, the T-Cross, the ID. Cross provides more interior space for five passengers and offers a luggage capacity of 475 litres, which is 20 litres more.
Exterior design
The ID. Cross features IQ.LIGHT Matrix LED headlamps with an illuminated LED light strip, 3D LED taillights, illuminated Volkswagen badges at the front and rear, a wide bonnet, and a floating roof-style silhouette with 18-inch alloy wheels.
Interior & Cabin

On the inside, it offers a premium cabin with a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, steering-mounted controls, a 10-speaker Harman Kardon premium audio system with 425 watts of output and a central speaker, 12-way electrically adjustable front seats with ventilation and massage functions, and a large panoramic sunroof.
Battery and Motor
The EV is a front-wheel-drive model and is available with two battery pack options: 37 kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) and 52 kWh Nickel Manganese Cobalt (NMC). It offers a maximum driving range of up to 427 km. Customers can also choose from three electric motor options: 85 kW (116 PS), 99 kW (135 PS), and 155 kW (211 PS). The vehicle also supports DC fast charging for quicker charging times.
Pricing and Other Details

The MEB+ platform also supports Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality, advanced driver assistance systems, connected car technologies, adaptive cruise control, and multiple airbags, delivering world-class safety.
Volkswagen has priced the new ID. Cross compact electric SUV at €28,000 (approximately Rs 28-30 lakh). These prices and specifications are for the German market and may vary in other regions. While this model is currently limited to Europe, it could eventually launch in India as Volkswagen restructures its global operations and EV strategy.
