VinFast VF8 Patented In India: The Brand’s Most Powerful EV Could Launch Soon

Vietnamese brand VinFast has patented the VinFast VF8 Electric SUV in India. This SUV was recently updated with a new generation, and it is expected to hit the Indian EV market.

VinFast is one of the leading electric car sellers globally. They are positioned among emerging EV brands alongside players like Tata Motors, MG Motor and Mahindra & Mahindra in several developing EV markets. Their VinFast VF6 and VinFast VF7 EV SUVs are very popular, especially among urban consumers.

VinFast VF8 Electric SUV Patented in India

Now, the company has filed a patent for the VinFast VF8 Electric SUV, which could be the largest SUV-type vehicle from the brand. However, there is no official confirmation from the brand, but we speculate that it could reach the Indian market by early 2027.

VinFast VF8 Specs

The new design gets a blackout treatment across the body to make it more sporty and youthful. It has eyebrow-shaped LED DRLs with a new headlamp unit, Signature V-shaped lightbar, 19-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, and black-finished front and rear bumpers.

Battery and Range

Recently, VinFast updated the VinFast VF8 with a second-generation model, which packs a 60.13 kWh battery pack paired with a more powerful electric motor producing 228 hp and 330 Nm of torque. This powertrain combination claims a maximum range of around 500 km and supports fast charging that can charge the battery from 0 to 70 percent in just 30 minutes.

Interior and Highlights

Some of its key highlights include a 12.9-inch infotainment system, two-spoke steering wheel, 6-way powered and ventilated front seats with memory function, dual-zone climate control, air purifier, 8-speaker premium audio system, 360-degree camera, ADAS safety suite, and electronic parking brake.

Price Expectations

The VinFast VF8 could become the most powerful VinFast electric car in India if launched in the country. It is targeted at urban buyers who want an upmarket, powerful, and premium electric SUV. The VF8 could also become the flagship model from the brand and is expected to be priced at around Rs 40 lakh (ex-showroom).
