VinFast-Backed Green SM Launches All-Electric Taxi Service To Rival Ola & Uber
Vietnamese mobility company Green SM has officially entered the Indian ride-hailing market, launching its all-electric taxi service in the Delhi-NCR region on World Environment Day (June 5, 2026). The company is backed by Vingroup, the parent organisation of EV manufacturer VinFast, and will compete directly with established players such as Ola, Uber and Rapido.
The launch marks Green SM's first step into India, with the company expected to expand operations to additional cities in the coming months. Unlike conventional ride-hailing platforms that rely on vehicles owned by individual drivers, Green SM follows a fleet-operated model using only VinFast electric vehicles.

Customers can book a Green SM Limo through the Green SM mobile app, available on both Android and iOS platforms, by calling the company's hotline, or by hailing a cab directly in areas where the service operates. To mark its India debut, Green SM is offering a launch promotion from June 5 to June 11, providing a 50 per cent discount of up to Rs 250 on rides booked via the app.
Dedicated Electric Fleet
Green SM, formally known as Green and Smart Mobility Joint Stock Company (GSM), was established in 2023 by VinFast founder Pham Nhat Vuong. The company already operates electric ride-hailing services in Vietnam, Malaysia and the Philippines through its dedicated booking platform.
For India, the company will deploy VinFast electric vehicles exclusively. The primary model that Green SM will deploy for India will be the Limo Green MPV, a fleet-focused derivative of the Vinfast VF MPV 7.
Delhi-NCR Chosen For Initial Rollout
Green SM has chosen Delhi-NCR as its launch market, positioning itself in one of India's largest ride-hailing ecosystems. The company intends to deploy thousands of electric vehicles in the region as it scales up operations.
Green SM is expected to operate under a tightly controlled fleet structure, allowing it to manage vehicle maintenance, charging schedules, branding and service quality more directly than aggregator-led models.
Nguyen Van Thanh, GSM Global CEO said: "India is one of the most important mobility markets in the world. Its scale, rapid growth, and strong spirit of innovation are opening up many opportunities for the future of green transportation. We come to India with respect for the market, confidence in its long-term potential, and a commitment to working closely with local partners. Green SM hopes to bring high-quality fully electric rides to customers, while contributing to broader access to safe, reliable, and more sustainable mobility choices. We believe trust is the most important foundation for long-term growth. This is also what Green SM hopes to build with customers, partners, and communities in India in the years ahead".
DriveSpark Thinks
The launch of Green SM comes as VinFast continues expanding its presence in India. The Vietnamese automaker has already introduced products such as the VF 6, VF 7 and VF MPV 7 in the Indian market while establishing its manufacturing and business footprint in the country.
Green SM will eventually build a much larger electric taxi network across major Indian cities. The move also arrives at a time when the EV-only ride-hailing segment is witnessing renewed interest, creating an opportunity for new entrants in the urban mobility space.
