VinFast To Launch More Affordable Electric Cars In India: MPV, Hatchback & Micro EV Coming Soon

Vietnamese carmaker VinFast is expected to launch three new models for the Indian market this year. These lineups will include an MPV, a sub-4-metre SUV, and a hatchback. The company is already selling the VF6 and VF7 electric SUVs in India.

VinFast Upcoming Electric Cars

VinFast started manufacturing and sales operations in India last year. These Electric cars are manufactured in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu, and are positioned as premium offerings. However, this year, the brand plans to expand its portfolio by launching three new models that could target three different electric segments.

VinFast Limo Green

The first model is expected to be the Limo Green, a three-row, family-focused MPV positioned as a mid-range offering. It features a 60.1 kWh battery pack, which claims a maximum range of 450 km on a single charge.

The electric motor produces 201 bhp of power and offers a spacious cabin. The MPV is expected to be sold for commercial purposes and could carry technology and safety features similar to those found in the VF6.

VinFast VF5 Hatchback

VinFast

The VF5 is a compact hatchback that is already on sale in markets such as Indonesia and Vietnam. This car comes with two battery pack options: 29.6 kWh and 37.23 kWh. It delivers a maximum range of 268 km and 326 km, with power outputs of 95 bhp and 136 bhp, respectively.

Designed primarily for city use, the VF5 is expected to be priced around ₹12 lakh (ex-showroom). This could be avery good choice for people who need an electric hatchback instead of Electric SUV cars.

VinFast VF3 Micro EV

VinFast

The final model is expected to be the VF3, a micro EV that will compete with cars such as the Tata Tiago EV and the MG Comet EV. This compact electric car will feature an 18.6 kWh battery pack, claiming a maximum range of 200 km. It is well-suited for urban commuting and would be more practical for Indian cities with narrow roads and limited parking spaces.

All three cars are expected to be well-suited to Indian road conditions. If VinFast prices these models aggressively, it could help the brand increase its market share and diversify its portfolio. Currently, VinFast has a limited presence in the Indian EV market, with Tata Motors leading the segment, followed by MG Motor and Mahindra.
