Upcoming Car Launches In September 2026: Kia Sorento, Baleno Facelift, BMW 7 Series And More

September 2026 will bring a fresh wave of car launches in India, spanning a new Kia flagship, a Maruti hatchback facelift, updated BMW luxury sedans and Porsche's electric SUV showcase.

The month follows a packed August that saw the BMW X1 LWB and MG Hector Tomahawk EV and PHEV debut, alongside the Mahindra Scorpio N's mid-lifecycle update and new trims for the Range Rover SV Ultra, BYD Sealion 7 and Skoda Kylaq. Mahindra also revealed the Scorpio Lifestyler pickup truck, thought that is only set to launch next year.

So let's take a look at the cars and SUVs set to launch in India in September 2026...

Kia Sorento - September 4

The Kia Sorento launches on September 4 as the Korean brand's new flagship ICE model in India and will be offered with strong-hybrid and diesel powertrains. The 1.6-litre strong-hybrid unit produces 238hp and 380Nm, while the 2-litre diesel makes 202hp and 441Nm.

Design highlights of the Sorento include Kia's Tiger Nose grille, vertical LED headlights with Y-shaped daytime running lamps, LED fog lamps and vertical aero vents. Kia is yet to confirm alloy wheel sizes, though 19-inch units are likely. The rear gets squarish tail-lamps with an inverted L-shaped LED signature, a large roof spoiler and a two-tone bumper.

Inside, a connected panel houses the infotainment and instrument cluster screens, both expected to measure 12.3 inches. Other features confirmed till now include ADAS, ventilated front seats, a digital interior rearview mirror, an electric tailgate, dual-zone climate control, ambient lighting and a panoramic sunroof.

The Sorento is expected in both 6- and 7-seat layouts, and bookings are already open. On launch, it will rival the Skoda Kodiaq, Volkswagen Tayron, Honda ZR-V and Jeep Meridian.

Maruti Baleno Facelift - September 5

The Maruti Baleno facelift arrives on September 5, updating the second-generation hatchback first launched in 2022. Spy shots have shown a redesigned front end with a new grille featuring a horizontal bar connecting the headlights, along with a revised bumper that drops the current model's fog lamps.

A new alloy wheel design is expected to arrive with the facelifted hatchback, while the rear could get a reworked bumper with unchanged tail-lights. Inside, the current 9-inch touchscreen may carry over alongside updated upholstery and new features.

Power is expected to continue from the existing 90hp 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, offered with 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT options, plus a 77.5hp CNG version limited to the manual gearbox. The Baleno will continue to rival the Tata Altroz, Hyundai i20 and Toyota Glanza.

BMW 7 Series, i7 Facelifts - September 11

BMW opened bookings for the facelifted 7 Series and i7 on August 1 and the to flagship sedans will launch in the country on September 11. BMW currently sells the 740i petrol and 740d diesel in the 7 Series range, along with the i7 eDrive 50 and M70 xDrive.

Internationally, the updated 740i makes 400hp and 580Nm, up 19hp and 60Nm, while the 740d now produces 313hp and 670Nm, a gain of 27hp and 20Nm. Both retain their 3.0-litre straight-six engines, 48V mild-hybrid systems, 8-speed automatic gearboxes and xDrive all-wheel drive. The i7's battery grows to 112.4kWh from 101.7kWh. The eDrive 50 switches to xDrive-only and now makes 455hp and 660Nm, up 6hp and 10Nm, while the M70 xDrive rises to 680hp and 1,100Nm, a 30hp and 85Nm increase. Charging speeds have also improved.

Visually, both facelifted versions of BMW's flagships get a more monolithic look with split LED headlights, slimmer upright kidney grilles with an illuminated surround, and larger bumper air intakes. The side profile is largely unchanged apart from new side skirts and wheels, while the rear gains wraparound LED tail-lamps, a redesigned tailgate and a revised bumper.

Inside, the dashboard is built around a 17.9-inch infotainment touchscreen, a 14.6-inch passenger display and a pillar-to-pillar Panoramic Vision display, paired with a new four-spoke steering wheel borrowed from BMW's Neue Klasse models. Rear passengers get powered seats with heating, ventilation, massage and lumbar support, along with a touch-operable 31.3-inch 8K Theatre Screen, ambient lighting, a Bowers & Wilkins sound system and 4-zone climate control. The 7 Series rivals the recently facelifted Mercedes-Benz S-Class.

Porsche Cayenne Electric - September 30

The Porsche Cayenne Electric will finally make its way into India on September 30, months after the brand announced pricing for the electric SUV. The standard Cayenne Electric costs Rs 1.77 crore, while the range-topping Turbo Electric is priced at Rs 2.27 crore, both ex-showroom.

Both trims use a 113kWh battery with a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup. The Turbo Electric makes 1,156hp and 1,500Nm with Launch Control, enabling a 0-100kph sprint in 2.5 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 260kph, with a claimed WLTP range of 537km. The standard version produces 442hp and 835Nm, does 0-100kph in 4.8 seconds, tops out at 230kph and is rated for 542km on the WLTP cycle.

The SUV retains the ICE Cayenne's overall shape but gets a closed-off grille, larger cooling vents on the Turbo trim, a full-width LED tail light bar with illuminated Porsche lettering and a redesigned bumper with horizontal black elements.

Inside, it carries over the ICE model's three-spoke steering wheel and digital driver's display, joined by a new 14.5-inch curved touchscreen that flows into the centre console and an optional 14.9-inch passenger display. Other features include 8-way electrically adjustable front seats, four-zone climate control, ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof and wireless phone charging.
