Toyota Plans New India Factory To Boost SUV & Hybrid Production
Toyota Kirloskar Motor is planning to establish a new manufacturing facility in Maharashtra, India, further strengthening its production footprint in the country. The proposed plant is expected to generate around 2,800 new jobs and will have an annual production capacity of approximately 1 lakh units.
Toyota To Setup New Manufacturing Facility
Japanese automaker Toyota has announced plans to set up this new facility near Aurangabad, Maharashtra. According to reports, the plant is likely to become operational during the first half of 2029. This strategic investment reflects Toyota's long-term commitment to the Indian market, which has become increasingly important for both domestic sales and exports.

The upcoming facility will feature a complete manufacturing setup, including stamping, welding, painting and final assembly operations. Toyota is expected to dedicate this plant primarily to SUV production, although the exact models to be manufactured have not yet been revealed. Given the strong and growing demand for SUVs in India, the new plant is likely to play a crucial role in expanding Toyota's future products and offerings.
Toyota currently operates two manufacturing plants at Bidadi near Bengaluru, Karnataka. The company's first facility was established in 1999 and has been instrumental in Toyota's success in India, particularly in the SUV, MPV and hybrid vehicle segments. This plant manufactures popular models such as the Toyota Innova HyCross, Toyota Innova Crysta, Toyota Fortuner and Toyota Legender.

Toyota's second plant in Bidadi produces vehicles including the Toyota Camry, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder and Toyota Hilux. Together, the two Karnataka facilities have a combined production capacity of approximately 2.42 lakh units per year.
With the addition of the Maharashtra plant, Toyota's total production capacity in India is expected to increase to around 3.42 lakh units annually. This expansion will provide the company with greater flexibility to meet rising demand for SUVs, hybrids and future electric vehicles. The new facility could also support Toyota's export operations, as India continues to emerge as a key manufacturing hub for the brand.
