Toyota Confirms New Hilux Launch In India On July 28 With Major Upgrades

Toyota has confirmed the launch of the new-generation Hilux pickup truck in India on July 28, 2026. The updated lifestyle pickup will arrive with a refreshed design, an upgraded cabin, and several new features.

New Generation Toyota Hilux Launching This Month

The Toyota Hilux is set to receive a comprehensive generational update this month. Toyota is expected to introduce the ninth-generation Hilux in India, bringing significant exterior, interior, and technology upgrades over the outgoing model.

Toyota has already launched the new-generation Hilux in several Asian markets. The India-spec model is expected to share the same styling updates and feature enhancements offered in international markets.

Exterior Design

Toyota

Starting with the exterior, the Hilux receives a redesigned front fascia with a new bumper and bonnet, giving it a sharper and more futuristic appearance while retaining its rugged character. It features sleek LED headlamps, a large rectangular mesh grille with black accents, thick body cladding, silver skid plates, and muscular wheel arches that further enhance its commanding road presence.

At the rear, the overall design remains familiar, although the tailgate receives subtle revisions with the Toyota logo prominently positioned at the centre. Vertical LED tail lamps, a rugged black rear bumper, and the upright styling continue to reinforce the pickup's tough and utilitarian appeal.

Powertrain Specs

Toyota

Under the hood, the new-generation Hilux is expected to retain the proven 2.8-litre diesel engine paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system. This powertrain is already offered on the Toyota Fortuner in India. The new Hilux is expected to offer a payload capacity of up to one tonne along with a maximum towing capacity of 3,500 kg.

Advanced Features

Toyota has also extensively updated the cabin with a new 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a fully digital instrument cluster. The dashboard retains physical controls for climate settings, off-road modes, and other key functions, ensuring ease of use even in demanding driving conditions. The cabin is also expected to feature an all-black theme with black upholstery, soft-touch materials, and gloss-black dashboard inserts, giving the interior a more premium and sporty feel than before.

High end Safety

Toyota

On the safety front, the Hilux is expected to offer multiple airbags as standard along with an advanced driver assistance system (ADAS). Key features are likely to include Blind Spot Monitoring, Lane Departure Alert, Adaptive Cruise Control, Low-Speed Acceleration Suppression, Emergency Driving Stop System, and an all-wheel-drive system with disc brakes.

Price Expectations

The current-generation Toyota Hilux is priced from Rs 28.52 lakh (ex-showroom). With its updated styling, improved technology, and additional safety features, the new-generation model is expected to be priced at around Rs 30 lakh (ex-showroom). Once launched, it will continue to rival the Isuzu D-Max V-Cross and other lifestyle pickup trucks in the Indian market.
