World Environment Day: Top EVs Under Rs 15 Lakh Ranked By Range
The Indian electric vehicle market has evolved rapidly over the past few years, with buyers now having access to a wider range of affordable EVs than ever before. Improvements in battery technology, charging infrastructure and localisation have helped manufacturers offer longer driving ranges without pushing prices significantly higher.
For many buyers, range remains one of the most important considerations when choosing an electric car. So for World Environment Day 2026, let's take a look at all-electric cars currently on sale in India with variants priced below Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom), ranked in ascending order based on their claimed MIDC-certified driving range..

7. MG Comet EV - 230 km
The MG Comet EV is currently the most affordable passenger EV on sale in India, with prices starting from around Rs 7 lakh (ex-showroom). The compact city car is powered by a 17.3 kWh lithium-ion battery pack paired with an electric motor producing 42 PS and 110 Nm of torque.
MG claims a MIDC-certified range of 230 km on a full charge for the Comet EV. Charging the battery from 0 to 100 per cent takes approximately 7 hours using a 3.3 kW AC charger, while a 7.4 kW AC charger can complete the process in around 3.5 hours. The Comet EV does not support DC fast charging.

6. Tata Tiago EV - 315 km
The Tata Tiago EV is offered with two battery pack options. The entry-level Tiago EV variant uses a 19.2 kWh battery pack paired with a 61 PS electric motor producing 110 Nm of torque and delivers a claimed MIDC range of 250 km. Higher variants use a larger 24 kWh battery pack coupled with a more powerful 75 PS motor generating 114 Nm.
The 24 kWh version offers a claimed MIDC-certified range of 315 km, making it the version featured in this ranking. DC fast charging enables a 10 to 80 per cent recharge in around 58 minutes, while a 7.2 kW AC charger can fully recharge the battery in approximately 3.6 hours.

5. Tata Tigor EV - 315 km
The Tata Tigor EV is available with a single battery pack option. It uses a 26 kWh lithium-ion battery paired with an electric motor producing 75 PS and 170 Nm of torque. Prices for the Tata TIago EV sedan range between Rs 12.49 - 13.75 Lakh, making the most affordable electric sedan available in India today.
Tata claims a MIDC-certified range of 315 km on a single charge of the Tigor EV's battery pack. The battery can be charged from 10 to 80 per cent in approximately 59 minutes using a DC fast charger, while a full recharge through a standard AC charger takes around 8.5 hours.

4. Citroen eC3 - 320 km
The Citroen eC3 is powered by a 29.2 kWh battery pack and a front-mounted electric motor producing 57 PS and 143 Nm of torque. Positioned as an electric hatchback with crossover-inspired styling, the eC3 remains one of the few non-Tata offerings in this price bracket.
The electric hatchback delivers a claimed MIDC-certified range of 320 km. Citroen states that the battery can be charged from 10 to 80 per cent in 57 minutes using a DC fast charger, while a full recharge using an AC charger takes approximately 10.5 hours.

3. MG Windsor EV (Excite Variant) - 332 km
The MG Windsor EV is available with two battery pack options. The Excite, Exclusive and Essence variants use a 38 kWh battery pack paired with an electric motor producing 136 PS and 200 Nm of torque. These variants offer a claimed range of 332 km. Higher Pro variants feature a larger 52.9 kWh battery pack and deliver a claimed range of 449 km.
For this list, the base Windsor EV Excite variant qualifies as it the only trim level of the MG electric car that is currently priced below Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom). The Windsor Excite's 38 kWh battery supports DC fast charging, allowing a 20 to 80 per cent recharge in around 55 minutes. An AC charger can replenish the battery in roughly 6.5 hours.

2. Tata Punch EV - 421 km
The Tata Punch EV is offered with two battery pack choices. Standard Range variants use a 25 kWh battery pack paired with an 82 PS electric motor and offer a claimed MIDC-certified range of 315 km. Long Range variants feature a larger 35 kWh battery pack and a more powerful electric motor producing 122 PS and 190 Nm of torque.
The Long Range version delivers a claimed MIDC-certified range of 421 km and is the variant considered for this ranking. DC fast charging allows the battery to charge from 10 to 80 per cent in around 56 minutes, while a 7.2 kW AC charger can fully recharge the battery pack in approximately 5 hours.

1. Tata Nexon EV - 489 km
The Tata Nexon EV lineup is available with two battery pack options. Medium Range variants use a 30 kWh battery pack paired with a 129 PS electric motor producing 215 Nm of torque and offer a claimed MIDC-certified range of 275 km. The long range variant features a 45 kWh battery pack paired with a 145 PS electric motor producing the same 215 Nm of torque.
The Nexon EV Fearless 45, priced at Rs 14.99 lakh (ex-showroom), qualifies for this list and offers a claimed MIDC-certified range of 489 km. Using a 60 kW DC fast charger, the Nexon EV's battery can be charged from 10 to 80 per cent in around 40 minutes, while a 7.2 kW AC charger takes roughly 6 hours for a full recharge.
