Top 10 Best-Selling Cars Of Jan 2026: Nexon Leads, 6 Marutis Make The List
January 2026 saw multiple carmakers post record sales numbers as the new year started off wth a bang on the sales charts. India's ten best-selling models for January accounted for 1,80,798 units, an increase of 23.06% (33,904 units) over the same period last year.
Maruti Suzuki dominated the charts, accounting for six of the top 10 best-selling cars of January 2026. Tata Motors followed with two entries in the top 10 while Hyundai and Mahindra accounted for one vehicle each on the sales charts. The bestselling cars of January 2026 included five SUVs, three hatchbacks, one sedan, and one MPV.

The Tata Nexon was the best-selling car of January 2026 in India, with 23,365 units finding new homes last month. Sales of the Nexon sub-4-metre SUV rose by 51.75% (+7,968 units) year-over-year from the 15,397 units sold in January 2025.
The Maruti Suzuki Dzire was the second best-selling car of January 2026 in India with 19,629 units finding buyers during the month. Sales of the Dzire sedan rose by 27.6% (+4,246 units) year-over-year from the 15,383 units sold in January 2025.

The Tata Punch rounded off the podium with 19,257 units dispatched last month. Sales of the Tata Punch increased by 18.64% (+3,026 units) year-over-year compared to the 16,231 units sold a year earlier.
The Hyundai Creta was the fourth best-selling car, with 17,921 units sold in January. Sales of the Creta C-SUV declined by 3.24% (-601 units) year-over-year from the 18,522 units recorded in January 2025.
The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga was the fifth best-selling vehicle of Jan 2026 with 17,892 units finding new homes last month. Sales of the Ertiga MPV grew by 25.58% (+3,644 units) year-over-year from the 14,248 units sold in the same period last year.
The Maruti Suzuki Swift took sixth place with 17,806 units registered during January 2026. Sales of the Swift hatchback improved by 4.24% (+725 units) year-over-year compared to the 17,081 units sold in January 2025.
The Maruti Suzuki Brezza was the seventh best-selling model with 17,486 units sold last month. Sales of the Brezza sub-4-metre SUV increased by 18.57% (+2,740 units) year-over-year from 14,746 units recorded a year earlier.
The Maruti Suzuki Baleno was the eighth best-selling car with 16,782 units dispatched in January. Sales of the Baleno premium hatchback fell by 15.94% (-3,181 units) year-over-year compared to 19,963 units sold in January 2025.
The Mahindra Scorpio was the ninth best-selling vehicle with 15,542 units registered during the month. Sales of the Scorpio SUV rose by just 100 units or 0.65% YoY compared to January 2025.
The Maruti Suzuki Victoris completed the top ten with 15,240 units sold in January 2026. The new C-Segment SUV from Maruti Suzuki took just four months from its launch to cross the 50,000 unit sales mark.
