Top 10 Carmakers: December 2025 Retail Car Sales Report - Maruti, Mahindra, Tata Top The Charts
India's passenger car market closed December 2025 with retail sales of 4,04,231 units, up 25.8 per cent year-on-year from 3,21,345 units in December 2024. Total volumes reflected strong YoY momentum across most OEMs, even as month-on-month figures softened.
Among the automakers in the top 10 carmakers for December 2025, only MG, Honda and Volkswagen were in the red in terms of year-over-year numbers. Nissan, too, ended the month in the red.

Maruti Suzuki
Maruti Suzuki sold 1,78,646 units in December 2025 compared to 1,30,115 units in December 2024. Maruti Suzuki recorded a YoY increase of 48,531 units (37.3 per cent) in sales.
Mahindra
Mahindra sold 50,946 units in December 2025 as it sneaked past Tata Motors to claim the second spot in the sales charts. Compared to the 41,424 units Mahinda sold a year ago, the firm's sales were up by 9,522 units YoY (23.0 per cent).
Tata Motors
Tata Motors recorded 50,046 units sold in December 2025, as it claimed the final spot on the podium on the sales charts for the last month of 2025. Tata Motors saw a YoY rise of 5,825 units (13.2 per cent) in terms of sales compared to the 44,221 units sold in December 2024.
Hyundai
South Korean carmaker Hyundai sold a total of 42,416 units in December 2025 as it took the fourth spot on the sales charts. Compared to the 42,208 units it sold in December 2024, Hyundai saw its sales grow by 208 units (0.5 per cent) YoY..
Toyota
Japanese carmaker Toyota sold a total of 34,159 units in December 2025. Compared to the 24,887 units sold a year earlier in December 2024, Toyota saw a YoY uptick of 9,272 units (37.3 per cent).
Kia
South Korean carmaker Kia sold 18,659 units in December 2025 as it took the sixth spot on the sales charts. Kia's sales numbers were up from the 8,957 units in December 2024, which was a YoY increase of 9,702 units which was a growth of 108 per cent.
MG Motor
JSW MG Motor India sold 6,500 units in December 2025, down from the 7,516 units sold in December 2024. MG's sales saw a decrease year-over-year of 1,016 units (-13.5 per cent).
Honda
Japanese carmaker Honda recorded a total of 5,807 units in December 2025. Compared with the 6,825 units in December 2024, Honda sales were down by 1,018 units YoY (-14.9 per cent).
Skoda
Czech carmaker Skoda sold a total of 5,567 units in December 2025. Skoda's sales last month were up from the 4,554 units a year ago in December 2025. Skoda saw a YoY increase of 1,013 units (22.2 per cent).
Volkswagen
German automotive giant Volkswagen sold a total of 4,256 units in December 2025. Compared to the 4,787 units it sold in December 2024, VW saw a YoY drop of 531 units (-11.1 per cent ).
