Tesla Model Y Premium RWD Launched At ₹50.89 Lakh - Long Range RWD Discontinued

American electric carmaker Tesla has revised the price of the Model Y Premium Rear-Wheel Drive variant in India to ₹50.89 lakh (ex-showroom), a cut of ₹9 lakh over the earlier ₹59.89 lakh price tag. Customer deliveries at the revised price are scheduled to begin in July 2026.

Simultaneously, Tesla has discontinued the Long Range Premium RWD variant, which retailed at ₹67.89 lakh (ex-showroom). The Model Y range in India is now trimmed to two options: the Premium RWD and the recently launched L Premium AWD, priced at ₹61.99 lakh (ex-showroom).

At ₹50.89 lakh (ex-showroom), the Premium RWD sits ₹11.1 lakh below the L Premium AWD variant. Tesla's Full Self-Driving package is available as an optional add-on at ₹6 lakh. The electric SUV competes with the Kia EV6, Hyundai Ioniq 5, BYD Sealion 7 and Volvo EC40.

Tesla Model Y Premium RWD - Powertrain & Dimensions

The Tesla Model Y Premium RWD draws power from a 64kWh battery pack mated to a single rear-mounted electric motor producing 299hp. The claimed 0-100km/h time is 5.9 seconds, with a top speed of 201km/h.

WLTP-certified range for the Tesla Model Y Premium RWD is rated at 500km on a full charge. Peak DC fast charging is supported at 175kW via Tesla's Supercharger network, capable of adding 238km of range in 15 minutes.

The SUV measures 4,790mm in length, 1,982mm in width and 1,624mm in height, riding on a 2,890mm wheelbase. Boot capacity stands at 822 litres, with an additional 117-litre frunk at the front.

Tesla Model Y Premium RWD Design & Features

The Tesla Model Y's exterior carries flush door handles, aero wheels and a split headlamp design across the front fascia. A backlit Tesla wordmark at the rear and concealed exterior cameras are standard, with a powered tailgate opening to the boot.

The dashboard is dominated by a 16-inch central touchscreen that handles most vehicle functions. Rear occupants get a dedicated 8-inch display for media and climate controls, along with heated and ventilated seats and ambient lighting.

Interior choices include an All-Black theme or an optional Zen Grey finish at ₹95,000 extra. Six exterior colour options are on offer: Stealth Grey, Diamond Black, Glacier Blue, Pearl White Multi-Coat, Ultra Red and Quicksilver.
