Tesla Model Y L Gets Performance Boost - 0-100km/h Sprint Now Quicker

The Tesla Model Y L has received a powertrain upgrade in India, reducing its claimed 0-100km/h acceleration time to 4.5 seconds. The six-seat electric SUV is now 0.5 seconds quicker than before, while its claimed driving range and ex-showroom price remain unchanged.

Priced at Rs 61.99 lakh (ex-showroom), the Tesla Model Y L continues to offer a claimed WLTP range of 681km. The performance upgrade applies to vehicles purchased on or after October 1, 2026. Tesla has not announced any changes to the SUV's exterior design or interior features.

Tesla Model Y L: Performance And Powertrain

The Tesla Model Y L can now accelerate from 0-100km/h in a claimed 4.5 seconds following the upgrade. Its earlier claimed acceleration time was 5 seconds. Tesla calls the update Acceleration Boost, although the company has not officially disclosed revised power and torque figures for the India-spec model.

The Model Y L uses a dual-motor all-wheel-drive powertrain paired with an estimated 88kWh NMC battery pack. The combined system output is estimated at 514hp and 590Nm of torque, while the claimed top speed stands at 201kph. These output figures have not been officially confirmed by Tes

The acceleration improvement does not affect the claimed WLTP range, which remains 681km. Actual driving range will vary depending on factors such as speed, traffic, weather and driving conditions. The revised performance figures apply to eligible vehicles purchased from October 1, 2026.

Tesla Model Y L: Battery And Charging

The Tesla Model Y L supports DC fast charging at up to 250kW and AC charging at up to 11kW. According to Tesla, connecting the SUV to a compatible Supercharger can add up to 288km of range in 15 minutes, depending on charging conditions.

Tesla currently operates 20 Supercharger stalls and 28 Destination Charger sites in India. The company plans to add three more charging sites by the end of 2026. Tesla has also stated that home charging has been enabled for customers across 23 Indian states.

Tesla Model Y L: Price And Features

The Tesla Model Y L continues to be priced at Rs 61.99 lakh (ex-showroom) in India. The extended-wheelbase electric SUV from Tesla has a six-seat layout, with two captain seats in the second row and an additional row for passengers at the rear.

The cabin features a 16-inch central touchscreen and an 8-inch display for rear passengers. Other equipment includes a panoramic glass roof, a 19-speaker audio system and adaptive suspension with electronic damping. The second-row captain seats also offer heating, ventilation and powered armrests. The latest update is limited to performance, with no reported changes to the Model Y L's styling, cabin layout or equipment.
