American automaker, Tesla is one of the world's leading electric vehicle manufacturers and currently operates in India through the CBU (Completely Built Unit) route. The company manufactures its vehicles in China and imports them into the Indian market.

At present, Tesla is selling only the Tesla Model Y RWD and Long Wheelbase variants in India. Although the company still does not have a manufacturing facility in the country, it has been expanding its experience centre network across major cities like Mumbai, New Delhi, Gurugram, and Bengaluru.
With this new launch, Hyderabad becomes Tesla's fifth city in India to get an experience centre. The facility is located in HITEC City, while the after-sales and service centre has been opened in the Bollaram Industrial Area. Tesla's Supercharger network is currently available only in Mumbai and Gurugram, but the company is expected to expand this infrastructure to other cities in the near future.

At the opening event, Tesla invited customers and showcased its Indian product lineup, including the Tesla Model Y RWD and Long Wheelbase versions. Visitors can explore the vehicles up close and experience Tesla's product ecosystem interactively.
The Model Y is a coupe-style electric SUV, and the Long Wheelbase version is also available with a six-seat layout. The standard RWD variant offers a claimed range of 500 km, while the Long Wheelbase model delivers up to 681 km on a full charge.

Pricing starts at Rs 50.89 lakh (ex-showroom) for the RWD version, while the Long Wheelbase variant is priced at Rs 61.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Tesla has also recently started deliveries of the Long Wheelbase model in India.
India's EV market is expanding rapidly and is currently dominated by domestic brands like Tata Motors and Mahindra & Mahindra. As a global EV leader, Tesla is now steadily growing its footprint, and Hyderabad, being a major tech hub, could become an important market for the brand.
