Tata Sierra EV India Launch Timeline Confirmed - What We Know So Far

Tata Motors has confirmed a Q2 FY27 launch for the Sierra EV in India, with the window running July to September 2026. Passenger Vehicles MD and CEO Shailesh Chandra made the announcement during the company's Q4 earnings call. The Sierra EV will be the brand's sixth electric vehicle for the Indian market and its second entrant in the 4.2m-4.5m SUV segment.

The Sierra EV arrives as Tata continues to lead the domestic EV space. The brand held a 40.2% EV market share in FY26, per Vahan data, with cumulative EV sales crossing the 2.5 lakh mark. EV penetration across the portfolio currently sits at 14%.

Tata Sierra EV - Powertrain & Platform

The Tata Sierra EV is expected to be based on Tata's acti.ev+ architecture, the same platform underpinning the Harrier EV. Two battery options are reported: a 55kWh pack carried over from the Curvv EV and a larger 65kWh unit found on the larger Harrier EV. Claimed range on the larger pack is expected to be around the 500km.

Tata has confirmed both rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations for the Sierra EV. Standard variants are likely to use a single motor, with a dual-motor AWD setup reserved for higher trims.

Tata Sierra EV - Expected Features

The Tata Sierra EV's equipment list is expected to broadly mirror the ICE variant's top-spec kit. That includes a triple-screen dashboard layout, Level 2 ADAS, dual-zone climate control, connected car technology, and a powered driver's seat with ventilation. EV-exclusive additions could include V2L and V2V charging capability.

Tata Sierra EV - Design

Test mules of the Tata Sierra EV have already been spotted on public roads. The Sierra EV is expected to retain the ICE model's silhouette, with EV-specific changes including a closed-off body-coloured grille and revised front and rear bumper treatment. Exclusive colour options and EV-specific badging are also anticipated.

Tata Sierra EV - Rivals & Expected Pricing

The Tata Sierra EV will compete against the Hyundai Creta Electric, Kia Carens Clavis EV, Maruti e Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella, and the Mahindra BE6. Pricing for the Sierra EV will be announced at its launch but we estimate it will range from Rs 20 lakh to Rs 25 lakh (ex-showroom).
