Tata Sierra SUV Diesel Variants See Strong Demand Across India
The Tata Sierra SUV has returned to India, and consumers are showing more excitement for the iconic car. According to an Autocar report, the waiting period for the new Sierra has now been revealed, and the diesel variant is having high interest among buyers.
The Sierra has emerged as one of the most popular SUVs in the country, garnering around 70,000 bookings. Following this strong demand, Tata Motors is ramping up production to meet customer requirements and begin deliveries as early as possible.
Tata Sierra Diesel in High Demand
Tata Motors is offering the Sierra with three powertrain options: a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine (106 hp), a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine (160 hp), and a 1.5-litre diesel engine (118 hp). As expected, the diesel variant is the most in-demand option in the lineup and commands a longer waiting period.
Automatic transmission variants are also proving to be highly popular in the new Tata Sierra. The petrol variants are available around 2 to 4 weeks earlier than the diesel versions, while automatic variants have an additional 15 to 30 days of waiting time compared to manual versions. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual, a 6-speed automatic, and a 7-speed DCA gearbox.

For safety, the Sierra offers a 360-degree camera system with blind-spot monitoring, an electronic stability program with multiple intervention features, a powered tailgate with gesture control, a HypAR HUD display with multi-colour guidance, Level 2 ADAS, and six airbags as standard.
Variants & Pricing
The Tata Sierra is available in Smart+, Pure, Pure Plus, Adventure, Adventure Plus, Accomplished, and Accomplished Plus trims. Prices start at ₹11.49 lakh (ex-showroom), while the top-spec variant is priced at ₹21.49 lakh (ex-showroom). Higher trims are witnessing stronger demand due to their premium features and offerings.
