Tata Punch iTurbo Teased With Turbocharged Engine & 6-Speed Manual Gearbox
Tata Motors has teased a new turbocharged version of the Punch, confirming the addition of a 6-speed manual transmission and offering a clearer look at select interior and exterior elements, signalling a performance-oriented expansion of the compact SUV's lineup.
The teaser image reveals a revised front fascia, with subtle changes to the bumper and grille area, aligning the Tata Punch Turbo more closely with Tata's newer design language while retaining the model's upright stance and compact proportions.
Inside the cabin, the teaser highlights a higher-mounted driver seat, similar to the layout previously seen on the Tata Sierra SUV, suggesting a more commanding seating position and improved forward visibility compared with the standard Punch.
The elevated seating arrangement appears designed to enhance the SUV-like driving posture, differentiating the turbo variant from the existing naturally aspirated Punch, which prioritises ease of access and urban usability.

Tata has also confirmed that the Punch Turbo will be paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox, a step up from the current 5-speed manual and AMT options offered on the regular Punch, pointing toward a more engaging driving experience.
While the teaser does not disclose engine specifications, the new Tata Punch variant is expected to use a turbocharged version of the 1.2-litre petrol engine, delivering higher power and torque than the naturally aspirated unit currently available on the model.
The Tata Punch Turbo is likely to sit above the standard Punch in the lineup, potentially featuring additional equipment and cosmetic differentiation to justify its positioning within Tata's sub-4-metre SUV portfolio.
The introduction of a turbocharged Punch would broaden Tata's compact SUV range, offering buyers an option that balances compact dimensions with improved performance and a more driver-focused setup, similar to what Tata has done with the Altroz Racer.
Tata Motors is expected to share full specifications, variant details and pricing of the new Punch iTurbo at the official launch of the facelifted Punch on the 13th of January, alongside its other non-turbo siblings.
