Tata Punch Facelift Scores 5-Star Safety Rating In Bharat NCAP Crash Tests
The recently launched Tata Punch Facelift has secured a 5-star safety rating in the Bharat NCAP crash tests. The 2026 update comes loaded with advanced safety features, including six airbags and a 360-degree camera, reinstating Tata Motors' reputation for strong build quality and high safety standards.

The Tata Punch Facelift was launched at a starting price of ₹5.59 lakh (ex-showroom), offering segment-leading features and class-leading safety equipment. Most Tata models already carry high safety ratings, and the updated 2026 Punch continues this trend by securing a 5-star score, similar to its predecessor.

During the launch event, Tata Motors also demonstrated the Punch Facelift's robust build quality by showcasing a dramatic crash test involving a full-size truck. In this demonstration, the Punch was driven into the front side of a large truck, simulating a real-world frontal collision scenario where passenger vehicles often collide with taller vehicles.
Despite the severe impact, the cabin structure remained stable and well-protected. However, this test was conducted internally under controlled conditions, showcasing its strength rather than an official safety rating.

5 Star BNCAP rating for Punch Facelift
Now at the Bharat NCAP, where the Tata Punch Facelift underwent crash testing and achieved a 5-star rating for both adult and child occupant protection. This result confirms that the updated Punch remains a safe and secure offering by Tata Motors.
In terms of safety features, the Punch Facelift comes equipped with six airbags as standard, along with an auto-dimming IRVM, tyre pressure monitoring system, auto headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, fog lamps with cornering function, a first-in-segment 360-degree surround-view camera, SOS calling, hill descent control, blind-view monitoring system, and electronic stability program (ESP).

The 2026 Punch is offered with a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 120 PS of power and 170 Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. This makes it one of the most powerful offerings in its segment and an attractive choice for driving enthusiasts looking for a performance car at an affordable price.
Additionally, the Punch is also available with a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, offered with a 5-speed manual and AMT gearbox, along with paddle shifters for added convenience. The Tata Punch Facelift rivals models such as the Nissan Magnite, Renault Kiger, Citroën C3, Maruti Suzuki Fronx, and the Hyundai Exter.
