Tata Punch EV Facelift Could Deliver Segment-Leading 500km Range
Tata Motors is gearing up to launch the facelifted Punch EV in India this month. The updated electric SUV is expected to feature a larger battery pack, likely borrowed from the Tata Nexon EV, which could significantly improve driving range. The facelifted model is anticipated to arrive in February 2026.
Tata Punch EV Facelift Expectations
The SUV segment continues to dominate the Indian automotive market. Even in the electric car segment, most buyers prefer to buy compact electric SUVs over traditional hatchbacks. The updated Tata Punch EV is expected to feature several design elements and upgrades inspired by its recently refreshed ICE (internal combustion engine) sibling.

Expected Battery & Range
One of the biggest speculations surrounding the facelift is the possible addition of a new 45kWh battery pack derived from the Nexon EV. If introduced, this could push the Punch EV's claimed range close to 500 km on a single charge, potentially making it a segment-leading offering. Currently, the Punch EV is available with 25kWh and 35kWh battery pack options.
A larger battery could also bring a more powerful motor setup, improving both performance and torque output. For reference, the Nexon EV produces around 106 kW of power and 215 Nm of torque, with a claimed range of up to 489 km. Given the Punch EV's smaller size and lighter build, it could deliver quicker acceleration and a more responsive driving experience.

Anticipated Features
The other anticipated feature additions include multi-mode regenerative braking with paddle shifters, multiple drive modes (Eco, City, Sport), fast-charging capability, a voice-assisted panoramic sunroof, a redesigned centre console, ventilated seats, rear AC vents, six airbags, front parking sensors, auto-hold functionality, and a 360-degree camera system.
Many interior and feature updates are also expected to be shared with the ICE Punch facelift. With these enhancements, pricing is likely to increase slightly. The current Punch EV starts at around ₹9.99 lakh (ex-showroom), while the facelifted model is expected to begin at approximately ₹11 lakh (ex-showroom).
