Tata Motors To Launch Sierra EV And Safari EV In India; First Model To Make Debut This Month
Tata Motors, one of India's leading automobile manufacturers, is preparing to launch two new electric SUVs this year. Among them, the Tata Safari EV is expected to arrive by late 2026, while the Sierra EV is likely to be unveiled later this month.
The Indian EV market is currently dominated by SUV models such as the Tata Nexon EV, Punch EV, and the MG Windsor EV. However, the premium electric SUV segment still offers significant growth potential, with demand for mid-size and larger electric SUVs steadily increasing.
Tata Motors To Launch New Electric SUVs
Tata Motors, which already has the Harrier EV in its portfolio, is now looking to further expand its electric vehicle lineup with two new models-the Sierra EV and the Safari EV. Both SUVs are expected to be launched before the end of the year, with the first model likely to make its debut this month. Tata Motors has already teased an upcoming electric SUV that is scheduled to be unveiled on June 20.
Tata Sierra EV Expectations

The Sierra EV is expected to position itself between the Curvv EV and the Harrier EV in Tata's electric vehicle lineup. It will compete in the increasingly popular mid-size electric SUV segment against rivals such as the Hyundai Creta Electric, Maruti Suzuki eVitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser EV, VinFast VF6, and the Mahindra BE 6.
The Sierra nameplate already enjoys strong recognition among Indian buyers, and its electric avatar is expected to offer consumers another compelling option in the mid-size EV SUV segment. Several design elements and features are likely to be shared with its ICE counterpart, while the vehicle is expected to utilise the same architecture as the Harrier EV.
Premium Features
The Sierra EV is also expected to feature premium equipment such as a 360-degree camera, panoramic sunroof, large touchscreen infotainment system, ventilated seats, wireless smartphone connectivity, a 12-speaker JBL audio system, and Level 2 ADAS technology.
Battery & Range

Battery options could be shared with the Curvv EV and Harrier EV. Lower variants may feature the 55kWh battery pack from the Curvv EV, offering a claimed range of up to 502km. Higher variants could be equipped with a larger 65kWh battery pack, delivering a claimed IDC range of up to 538km.
Initially, Tata Motors is expected to launch the Sierra EV with a rear-wheel-drive configuration, while an all-wheel-drive version could join the lineup at a later stage. The SUV is expected to be priced from around Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom).
Tata Safari EV Expectations

The Safari EV is expected to become the flagship model in Tata Motors' electric SUV portfolio. It is likely to share its platform, battery technology, and several features with the recently launched Harrier EV. The electric SUV could be positioned as a performance-focused offering and may be available exclusively with an all-wheel-drive setup.
Power is expected to come from dual electric motors producing 158kW and 238kW outputs, with a combined torque figure of around 504Nm. The Safari EV could also utilise the 75kWh battery pack from the Harrier EV, offering a claimed IDC range of up to 622km on a single charge. Positioned above the Harrier EV, the Tata Safari EV is expected to carry a starting price of around Rs 30 lakh (ex-showroom).
