Tata Motors Begins 2026 On A High With 71,066 Unit Sales, Nexon SUV Sets New Record
Tata Motors recorded significant sales growth in January 2026. The company posted total sales of 71,066 units, including EVs, marking a strong 47.1% increase compared to January 2025. The company had recorded only 48,316 unit sales in January 2024 in the domestic market.
Tata Motors records its strongest sales in January 2026
Tata Motors recorded overall domestic sales of 70,222 units in January 2026, compared to 48,076 units in January 2025. Among the top-selling models was the Tata Nexon sub-4-metre SUV, which achieved its strongest monthly sales of over 23,000 units.

The model has also surpassed cumulative sales of more than 10 lakh units. Launched in 2017, the Tata Nexon has emerged as one of the biggest driving forces in both domestic and overseas markets.
Another car, the Tata Punch, was recently updated with a facelift version. This micro SUV also posted its best-ever monthly sales of 19,000 units. It achieved the fastest cumulative sales milestone in its segment, crossing 7 lakh units in just 4 years and 3 months since its introduction in 2021.
Tata's compact hatchback, Tata Tiago, launched in 2016, has also crossed 7 lakh units in cumulative sales. Other models, including the Tata Sierra, Tata Harrier, Tata Safari, and the new Punch facelift, gained strong traction in their respective segments during January 2026.

Among these, the Tata Sierra, which was recently introduced to the Indian market, is witnessing strong demand from consumers. To meet the growing demand, Tata Motors has ramped up production at its manufacturing facilities. The Sierra is one of the most iconic cars ever sold in India and has been reintroduced as a compact SUV with a modern design while retaining its iconic silhouette.
The Tata Harrier and Safari, previously sold only with diesel engines, were recently updated with a new turbo-petrol powertrain to make them more accessible to mass-market consumers. Overall, sales in January 2026 were highly encouraging, and Tata Motors continues to strengthen its position and market share in India.
