Tata Now Offering BaaS Across Entire EV Range - Cuts Upfront Price By Up To Rs 7.30 Lakh

Tata Motors has extended its Battery-as-a-Service scheme, to the Nexon EV, Curvv EV, Sierra EV and Harrier EV, making it available across its entire six-model EV range. The option was earlier limited to the Tiago EV and Punch EV.

With Battery-as-a-Service, the battery is paid for separately from the car, which lowers the upfront price. In the case of the Tata EV range, the drop in upfront price ranges between Rs 2.30 lakh to Rs 7.30 lakh, depending on the model.

Tata BaaS Prices and Upfront Savings

All prices are for entry trims, and the usage cost is based on 60km of daily running, or 44km for the Tiago EV, excluding charging.

The Tata Harrier EV sees the biggest cut, with its price dropping from Rs 21.79 lakh to Rs 14.49 lakh. The Tiago EV sees the smallest, at Rs 2.30 lakh, starting at Rs 4.69 lakh instead of Rs 6.99 lakh.

In between, the Nexon EV, Curvv EV and Sierra EV become Rs 5.35 lakh, Rs 6.20 lakh and Rs 6.80 lakh cheaper respectively, while the Punch EV sees its upfront price drop by Rs 3.20 lakh to Rs 6.59 lakh. Battery usage cost ranges from Rs 2.6/km on the Tiago EV and Punch EV to Rs 5.9/km on the Harrier EV.

How the Scheme Works

Tata BaaS is a dual-loan finance product, with the vehicle and the battery financed separately. The vehicle loan works like a regular car loan, while the battery payment varies with battery size, down payment and loan tenure. Tata has tied up with multiple financiers for the scheme.

The battery payment does not cover charging, maintenance, repairs or other associated costs. Government levies, road tax, insurance and TCS are also excluded, and the listed BaaS prices apply to entry-level variants for personal users.

Buyers can still purchase any Tata EV with the battery included in the price. BaaS is offered as an alternative financing option, not a replacement.
