Tata Aeris Spied Undisguised Ahead Of Launch

Tata Motors will launch the Aeris, its rebadged and updated Tigor sedan, tomorrow (September 25). An undisguised unit of the Tata Aeris i-CNG variant has been spied reaching a dealership ahead of the debut, revealing the design changes in full for the first time.

The current Tigor has been Tata's slowest-selling model through H1 2026, prompting the sedan to be rechristened as the Aeris with revised exterior and interior styling. The spy video confirm design elements first previewed in official teasers for the model.

Tata Aeris: Design & Features

The Tata Aeris features a new clamshell bonnet, reflector LED headlamps and a gloss black applique on the front fascia mark the biggest changes to the sedan's face. C-shaped elements run through the bumper, a departure from the vertical bar design on the related Tiago hatchback.

A sloping, coupe-like roofline extends into a roof spoiler with a high-mounted LED stop lamp, narrower than the full-width unit on the outgoing Tigor. Shark-fin antenna, connected LED tail lights and a redesigned rear bumper complete the exterior update on the Tata Aeris.

The unit spotted at the dealer yard appears to be a lower trim, missing several features reserved for higher variants. LED daytime running lights integrated into the headlamps, LED fog lamps, connected LED light ribs in the tail lights, alloy wheels and a 360-degree camera with dashcam function are expected on top-spec models.

Inside, the Tata Aeris carries over the fabric-wrapped dashboard layout, a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and a new, wider LCD instrument cluster.

Tata Aeris: Powertrain Options

The spied unit of the Tata Aeris is the i-CNG variant, expected to retain the dual-cylinder CNG tank setup and automated manual transmission option from the outgoing Tigor. CNG-specific hardware such as a CNG start function and reinforced rear suspension are likely to carry over as well.

Power is expected to come from the same 1.2-litre, three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine used on the Tigor. The i-CNG version trades some performance for efficiency, with the current Tigor i-CNG rated at up to 28.06 km/kg. An electric version of the Aeris is also expected to arrive in the near future.

Tata will position the Aeris against the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Hyundai Aura and Honda Amaze in the sub-four-metre sedan segment.
