Skoda Kylaq Delivers Best Sales Figures For Skoda In 2025
Skoda India enjoyed its most successful year in the country during its 25th anniversary. The brand, which was launched in India back in 2001, recorded its best-ever sales performance, largely driven by the newly launched sub-4-metre SUV, the Skoda Kylaq. More than 45,000 units of the Kylaq were sold in 2025.
Skoda Kylaq Drives Skoda in India
According to Money Control, the Czech brand celebrated its 25th anniversary in the Indian domestic market with record-breaking sales of 72,665 units. Of this total, the Skoda Kylaq contributed more than 45,000 units, accounting for nearly 62% of overall sales.
Skoda Auto India's strategy of introducing an affordable sub-4-metre SUV has clearly worked in its favour. At a time when SUVs were popular in the Indian market, Skoda introduced a toned-down version of its Kushaq compact SUV, which helped significantly boost the brand's sales momentum.
In 2024, Skoda sold 34,166 units, largely driven by its more affordable models, the Skoda Kushaq and the Skoda Slavia. With the addition of the Škoda Kylaq, the brand has further expanded its portfolio and strengthened its presence in the SUV space, making itself more accessible to mass consumers.
Skoda's previous best sales performance came in 2022, following the launch of the Kushaq compact SUV and the Slavia mid-size sedan. The brand is now gearing up to update both models in 2026, aiming to refresh its portfolio. Additionally, Skoda introduced the Skoda Octavia RS as a limited-edition model last year, which was completely sold out.
Skoda Kylaq Specs and Features
The Kylaq sub-4-metre SUV is offered with a single petrol powertrain option. The 1.0-litre TSI engine produces 115 PS of power and 178 Nm of torque. It is paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox and a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. The SUV also offers a segment-leading 446 litres of boot space, making it well-suited for family use.
According to Skoda's official website, the Kylaq was awarded Car of the Year and C-SUV of the Year 2025. It is also claimed to be the safest car in its segment, having achieved a 5-star safety rating under Bharat NCAP crash test.
Premium features on offer include ventilated front seats, powered seats, a large touchscreen infotainment system, a fully digital instrument cluster, ambient lighting, a full LED lighting setup, wireless Android Auto/ Apple CarPlay and wireless charging.
The Skoda Kylaq is priced at 7.59 lakh (ex-showroom) and rivals popular sub-4-metre SUVs such as the Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, and the Mahindra XUV 3XO.
