Skoda Kushaq Facelift: Expected Launch Date & New Features

Czech automotive brand Škoda Auto is expected to launch the new Škoda Kushaq facelift in India on January 19-20. Originally introduced in 2021 as part of Škoda's India 2.0 strategy, the Kushaq compact SUV is set to receive a major update in January 2026.

Skoda Kushaq Facelift Launch This Month

Early 2026 is packed with car launches, starting from the Kia Seltos, Mahindra XUV 7XO, XUV 3XO Electric, and the recently launched Tata Punch Facelift. Now, it is time for the Czech brand to arrive with the facelifted version of the Kushaq SUV. The updated model has already been spotted testing in several parts of the country in a heavily camouflaged form.

Škoda had a strong 2025 with record sales driven by the newly launched Škoda Kylaq SUV. This sub-4-metre model is currently the brand's most affordable offering in India and recorded sales of over 40,000 units. Škoda is now preparing to upgrade the Kushaq with several new features and redesigned front and rear sections.

The Kushaq Facelift is expected to be built on the same MQB-A0-IN platform as the existing model. Exterior updates may include a refreshed grille, revised bumpers, a redesigned rear section, new alloy wheels, and minor aesthetic changes.

The most significant updates are expected on the interiors. The cabin could feature a redesigned dashboard, a refreshed interior layout, and a new touchscreen infotainment system. Physical buttons for key functions such as AC on/off and volume controls are also expected to make a comeback, replacing touch-based controls.

The cabin could also receive premium upgrades on higher variants, including new leatherette upholstery, a panoramic sunroof, a 360-degree surround-view camera, Level 2 ADAS safety features, ventilated front seats, and even segment-first rear-seat massage functionality. However, Škoda has not officially confirmed these features, and all these features are speculations.

The Kushaq Facelift is likely to retain the existing 1.0 TSI and 1.5 TSI petrol engines, paired with a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DSG transmission. The 1.0-litre engine's current 6-speed torque converter automatic may be replaced with a new 8-speed torque converter unit, which is expected to offer smoother gearshifts and improved fuel efficiency. Pricing could be more premium over the current model, which starts at ₹10.66 lakh (ex-showroom).

The update does not end here, as Škoda is also expected to update the facelifted Škoda Slavia shortly after the Kushaq's launch. Additionally, Škoda's German sibling Volkswagen is expected to follow up with facelifted versions of the Volkswagen Taigun and the popular Volkswagen Virtus in the coming months.
