Skoda Kodiaq Recalled For Defective Seat Frame - May Compromise Side Airbags
Czech carmaker Skoda has issued a voluntary recall for 221 units of the Kodiaq SUV over a potential issue affecting the front side airbags. The recall covers Skoda Kodiaqs manufactured in India between March 10 and December 8, 2025.
The issue affects the updated Kodiaq, which was launched last year, and is linked to the inner frame of the front seat, which may interfere with the deployment of the side airbags. The issue specifically impacts the protection offered to occupants in the event of the Kodiaq being involved in an accident where the impact occurs from the side of the SUV.

The description for the voluntary recall of the Skoda Kodiaq on the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) states, "Škoda Kodiaq manufactured during the aforesaid period, the edge of the inner frame of the front seats may compromise protection reliability of the side airbags when activated. This situation may reduce the protective effect of the side airbag, which could result in an increased risk of injury to passengers in the event of an accident, in which the side airbag is deployed."
Skoda will contact owners of the affected vehicles directly, and customers will be required to bring their vehicles to authorised service centres for inspection. The Czech carmaker will rectify the issue by modifying or replacing the affected components at no cost to the customer.
Owners can also check if their vehicle is part of the recall by entering the VIN of their Kodiaq SUV on Skoda India's official website or by contacting their closest authorised dealerships. The VIN code for the Kodiaq is stamped on a plate under the windscreen in the lower left and can also be found on the vehicle's registration certificate
The Skoda Kodiaq is the Czech carmaker's flagship offering for the Indian market and is powered by a 2.0-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine producing 204hp and 320Nm, which is paired with a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox that sends power to all four wheels.
The Skoda Kodiaq lineup in India starts at ₹39.99 lakh for the Lounge variant. Next comes the Sportline variant, which is priced at ₹43.76 lakh, while the top variant is the Selection L&K, which is priced at ₹43.95 lakh (all prices mentioned are ex-showroom).
