Renault Kwid Facelift To Launch On July 3 - What To Expect

Renault will launch the facelifted Kwid on July 3, marking a mid-cycle refresh for its entry-level hatchback. The Renault Kwid has been on sale in India for over a decade and remains Renault's most accessible model, playing a key role in its lineup.

Renault is yet to reveal official details, but spy shots of the updated Kwid suggest the facelift will bring subtle styling revisions rather than a complete redesign, along with cabin updates. Powertrain options are likely to remain unchanged.

Test vehicles of the Renault Kwid have been spotted with camouflage around the front fascia, Renault badge and tail lamps, pointing to updates to these visual elements. The Kwid facelift is expected to get a revised grille, updated bumpers and new lighting elements, with design cues said to be borrowed from the Dacia Spring EV.

Spy shots suggest the facelifted Renault Kwid hatchback will feature new Y-shaped LED daytime running lamps along with matching Y-shaped tail lamps. Headlights are likely to remain pentagonal halogen units, with a closed-off front grille, squared-off wheel arches and thick body cladding also expected. A new set of alloy wheels, flap-style door handles and a gently sloping roofline are also tipped to feature.

Inside, the Kwid facelift is expected to receive minor updates aimed at enhancing the overall cabin experience. Although no official feature list has been confirmed, the updated model could get a larger touchscreen infotainment system, likely around 10 inches, along with a fully digital instrument cluster. Other changes may include revisions to the dashboard layout, a new steering wheel and improved material quality. Renault could also upgrade the safety package by offering six airbags, with the updated cabin design likely drawing inspiration from the Dacia Spring.

Under the hood, the Kwid facelift is unlikely to see any changes. It is expected to continue with the existing 1.0-litre, three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine, which produces 65 bhp and 96 Nm of torque. Transmission options are also expected to remain the same, with buyers getting a choice between a five-speed manual gearbox and a five-speed AMT.

The facelifted Kwid is likely to command a slight premium over the outgoing model, which is currently priced between Rs 4.30 lakh and Rs 5.88 lakh, ex-showroom. Once launched, the updated Kwid will continue to compete with rivals such as the Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 and Maruti Suzuki Celerio in the entry-level hatchback segment. The facelift also follows the recently launched Triber and Kiger facelifts and comes as part of Renault's broader product strategy for India, which includes new-generation models and a wider portfolio expansion in the coming years.
