Renault Bets Big On India – New Bridger SUV To Get ICE & EV Options
Renault has revealed its plans for the next five years in India, outlining an aggressive product strategy that includes the launch of seven new models by 2030. Among these is the upcoming Renault Bridger Sub 4 meter SUV, which will be offered with multiple powertrain options.
The French automaker recently presented its 'FutuReady strategy' for both European and international markets, with India emerging as one of its top three priority regions. Renault also unveiled the new RGEP (Renault Group Entry Platform), which is expected to eventually replace the existing CMF-A entry-level architecture in India.

Renault Bridger SUV: What To Expect?
The upcoming Renault Bridger will be based on the CMF-B platform, which also underpins models like the Renault Duster. Globally, this architecture is part of the Renault Group Modular Platform (RGMP). Positioned as a sub-4 metre SUV, the Bridger will slot between the Renault Kiger and the Duster in Renault's lineup, targeting a highly competitive segment in the Indian market.
Engine & Powertrain Options
The Bridger is expected to be powered by a 1.2L three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine, paired with both manual and automatic transmission options. Renault already offers a similar 1.2L turbo engine (TCe 115), which produces around 115 hp and 190 Nm of torque. In addition to ICE options, the CMF-B platform is capable of supporting electrified powertrains, opening the possibility for a fully electric version (BEV) of the Bridger.

EV Possibility & Market Position
If launched, the Bridger EV could offer a claimed range between 300 km and 500 km. This would position it alongside models like the Tata Punch EV, Tata Nexon EV, Mahindra XUV 3XO, and Citroën ë-C3, which are available with either ICE or electric powertrains. Renault's E-Tech models are known for being cost-effective, smooth, and efficient, making an electric Bridger a strong fit for the value-focused Indian market.
India As A Global Hub
India continues to play a crucial role in Renault's global strategy, with its Oragadam facility near Chennai serving as a major manufacturing and export hub. The upcoming Bridger is expected to be locally produced and exported to multiple international markets.

Renault Group leadership has also outlined plans to expand market share in India over the next five years, with an ambitious export target of €2 billion, covering both vehicles and components.
With the Renault Duster already receiving a strong response, the company is also preparing a three-row version based on the same platform, further strengthening its future product portfolio in India.
