Range Rover GT Revealed As Brand's First All-Electric Grand Tourer

British carmaker Land Rover has always been known for its SUVs. However, with the new Range Rover GT, the brand is showing off a new path towards its future. Revealed as the fifth member of the family, the Range GT has moved away from the brand's traditional shape and instead arrives as an electric grand tourer, built on JLR's all-new EMA platform.

The Range Rover GT will be built at the JLR facility in Halewood, UK, alongside Range Rover's existing ICE and hybrid models. The Range Rover GT will launch as a battery-electric vehicle, with a full hybrid option to follow later in its lifecycle, since the EMA platform is designed to support both.

Land Rover has stopped short of releasing technical specifications for the Range Rover GT, with battery capacity, range, power output and performance figures promised later this year, closer to the model's full reveal.

Inside, the Range Rover GT's cabin follows the brand's reductive design philosophy. A single central screen sits alongside a separate driver display, replacing the traditional instrument cluster found on other Range Rover models.

A concealed air vent runs the width of the cabin, keeping the dashboard visually clean, while a woven textile wraps the surface and hides the speakers within its form. Range Rover says second-row legroom is class-leading, though exact figures have not been shared.

Prototype vehicles are currently completing final testing, wrapped in a bespoke camouflage design inspired by the landscape around Gaydon, home to Range Rover's design and engineering teams. The pattern uses local topographic contours to create a flowing gold graphic across the body.

Range Rover GT

Range Rover calls the GT its most technologically sophisticated model to date. Martin Limpert, Managing Director of Range Rover said, "The Range Rover GT will redefine the grand‑touring segment with the ability to deliver beautiful and engaging GT poise, proportions and long‑distance refinement while offering capabilities no conventional GT can match. We have spent the last few years working obsessively on the fundamentals of the GT formula, reinterpreted in a sophisticated, uniquely Range Rover way. The result is the most car‑like, yet unmistakably capable, Range Rover ever created, now possible on our electrified EMA architecture - complementing our existing powertrain portfolio to deliver a complete set of options for every customer need. Its blend of effortless EV performance, first‑class long‑haul refinement and all‑terrain capability is pure Range Rover; while its calming interior previews our vision of a modern grand tourer."

There is no word yet on an India launch, though we expect more details on the Range Rover GT to be revealed when it finally hits the streets later this year.
