503bhp Porsche 911 GT3 S/C Unveiled - First GT3 Convertible

Porsche has unveiled the 911 GT3 S/C, introducing an open-top version of its hardcore track-focused GT3 lineup. The Porsche 911 GT3 S/C combines the naturally aspirated GT3 powertrain with a convertible body and lightweight construction derived from the 911 S/T.

The Porsche 911 GT3 S/C is not a limited-production model and is available to order globally. Porsche has not confirmed pricing details or an India launch timeline.

Porsche 911 GT3 S/C: First GT3-Badged 911 Convertible

The Porsche 911 GT3 S/C is the first GT3-badged 911 to feature a convertible roof. It blends GT3 Touring mechanicals with weight-saving measures inspired by previous limited-run models.

The Porsche 911 GT3 S/C uses a fully automatic fabric roof that can be operated in around 12 seconds at speeds of up to 50kph. Despite the added mechanism, Porsche claims a kerb weight of 1,497kg.

Porsche 911 GT3 S/C: Engine & Performance

The Porsche 911 GT3 S/C is powered by a 4.0-litre naturally aspirated flat-six engine. It produces 510hp and 450Nm, with a redline of 9,000rpm. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a short-ratio 6-speed manual gearbox. Porsche claims a 0-100kph time of 3.9 seconds and a top speed of 313kph.

"We have already learned with the 911 Speedster and the 718 Spyder RS how well our high-revving naturally aspirated engine-particularly dynamic handling characteristics and consistent lightweight construction-fit a driver's car without a roof," says Andreas Preuninger, Director GT Cars. "The arrival of the 911 GT3 S/C marks the first time an open top 911 uses a double wishbone front axle. In combination with the particularly high-grip sports tires and the low weight, the car offers driving pleasure on winding roads that has hardly been experienced with an open-top car before."
