Nissan Tekton Teased In Black: Front Design Revealed Ahead Of July 9 Debut

Nissan has released a fresh teaser of the Tekton SUV in black, revealing the front-end design ahead of its global debut on July 9 in Mumbai. The midsize SUV was originally slated to break cover in February, but that reveal did not materialise.

The teaser shows a wide grille with multiple horizontal slats, a full-width red accent strip running through the illuminated Nissan logo, and rectangular LED headlamps. Large TEKTON lettering sits across the bonnet's leading edge, with a raised central bonnet section adding to the SUV's muscular stance.

Nissan Tekton - Patrol-Inspired Styling

Vertical LED daytime running lights sit at the outer edges of the bumper, working alongside the horizontal headlamp units and broad grille for a strong road presence. The upright stance and squared-off proportions echo the larger Nissan Patrol, with the Tekton even being shown alongside the Patrol in an earlier teaser video as the "baby Patrol".

Previous teasers and spy shots have already revealed a boxy profile, flat roofline, roof rails, chunky wheel arches and connected tail lamps with a C-shaped signature at the rear. Duster-like pull-type door handles feature at the front, with C-pillar-mounted handles at the rear, along with multi-spoke alloy wheels and a twin-ridge spoiler.

Nissan Tekton - Platform And Powertrain

Tekton is based on the same platform as the Renault Duster and will mark Nissan's return to the midsize SUV space following the Kicks' discontinuation in 2023. Engine options are expected to include a 100hp 1.0-litre turbo-petrol and a 163hp 1.3-litre turbo-petrol unit.

A 6-speed manual gearbox is likely with both engines, while a 7-speed DCT automatic will be reserved for the more powerful 1.3-litre option. It remains to be seen if Tekton also gets the Duster's upcoming 160hp 1.8-litre strong-hybrid powertrain, expected by Diwali.

Nissan Tekton - Expected Features And Price

Cabin highlights are expected to include dual digital displays, a 10.1-inch touchscreen, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, wireless smartphone charging and a 360-degree camera. ADAS functions and six airbags could be offered on higher variants.

Tekton is likely to be priced close to the Duster, which ranges from Rs 10.49 lakh to Rs 18.69 lakh. It will rival the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, Victoris, Toyota Hyryder, Honda Elevate, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, MG Astor, Renault Duster and Tata Sierra.
